  jnpope: There is a problem composed by <J. B. L'Oste, Aged 14 years, son of the Rev. J. W. H. L'Oste, of Blackwood, Victoria> appearing in the Melbourne <Australasian>, 1879.12.27, p813.

Which seems to align, age-wise, with the death notice: <Under the heading "In Memoriam," the name of John Bernard L'Oste appears, the son of the incumbent of Christ Church, Cullenswood, who died of consumption, at the early age of 23> appearing in the Hobart <Mercury>, 1888.10.01, p2.

jnpope: Are you privy to some piece of salacious family info on the L'Oste's?

https://oa.anu.edu.au/obituary/lost...

Rev. Charles Frederick was uncle to John Bernard and older brother of Rev. John William. Although, John William had a good run too: <Rev J. W. H. L'Oste who died in 1927, in North Queensland, aged 96>.

FSR: Charles Frederick L'Oste died at age 106 in 1935? Wow. We're talking world record territory here.

FSR: The brothers lived to 96 (dying in 1927) and 106 (dying in 1935). Those are some good genes. And they had good luck in escaping tuberculosis and other diseases, unlike the son.
