Col. Joseph Biddle Wilkinson, Jr., born and died Plaquemines, LA USA.
Appointed as the United States General Appraiser by President Harrison in 1890(1) and in that capacity relocated to New York becoming a member of the Manhattan Chess Club in 1893/94.(2)
Mr. Wilkinson, we believe we may now say, participated in many of our tourneys in past years and although he always entered himself under the modest pseudonym, "Omega," there was no one, perhaps, whom the very strongest players of the club dreaded more for his ingenuity, tenacity and fertility of resource. (3)
Leon Labatt beat Wilkinson ("Omega") in a match played June-July, 1889, by the score of +5=2-2. (4)
