Harry K. McClelland, born Gap, Lancaster county, PA USA; died Minneapolis, MN USA.

H. K. McClelland, 90, 5628 Blaisdell avenue, for years a chinaware and glassware merchant here, who helped plan and finance the old Exposition building, died Friday.

He was born in Lancaster county, Pa., Oct. 25, 1851. At outbreak of the Civil war, his father ran the blockade of the Potomac river in Virginia to place him and an older brother, George, in care of their grandfather at Pittsburgh.

McClelland was a civil engineer and helped build the first railroad in Vermont.

He was married in 1879 to Margaret Denney, coming shortly afterware to Minneapolis where he and a brother opened a chinaware and glassware store on lower Nicollet avenue.

McClelland was widely known as a chess player and was active in Minneapolis Chess and Checker club. Services will be Monday at Lakewood chapel. (1)
