Rotstein won or took top places in several tournaments: 1st place at the tournament in Paris (1994), 1st place at the Open in Cesenatico (1998), 1st-2nd place at the Open in Letojanni (2002), 1st-2nd place at the Open in Bad Zwischenahn (2004), 1st-2nd place at the Open in Seefeld (2004), 1st-2nd place at the Open in Corfu (2007), 1st place at the Open in Feffernitz (2010) and 1st place at the 26th Faaker See Open in Latschach (2010).

Rotstein has held the title of International Master since 1990 and received the Grandmaster title in 1994.

For his achievements in correspondence chess, he received the title of International Master from the ICCF in 1990. His father Jefim Rotstein (1933–2021) was a FIDE Master.
