Feb-24-12  waustad: May I assume that "Fernschachmeisters" means master of correspondence chess?

WannaBe: According to http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translat... it means remote chess master.

According to me, Fern is a plant, no idea what schach is, so hence, he is Fern-no clue-master. =)

Feb-25-12  thomastonk: <waustad> Yes. "Fernschach" is the german word for correspondence chess. So, Willy Rosen is a CC-IM.

Three weeks ago he won a game against Vlastimil Hort: http://www.sfk-schach.de/index.php/...

<WannaBe> "Schach" is the german word for chess. The word "fern" means that something is distant. So "Fernschach" got its name, since the players are not at the same place.
