Jan-20-05  Procopius: M. Chamouillet was a frequenter of the Cafe de la Regence and did play Paul Morphy (the game is published in Sergeant's anthology and I will submit it soon). He is one of the witnesses of the Staunton-St. Amant match engraving, and while he died in 1873 at the age of ninety, he was NOT the last surviving chess player depicted there. (Devinck, the chocolate-maker, was).
Mar-25-08  sneaky pete: His last words: échec au roi.
Mar-25-08  Calli: Another Frenchman with no forename despite being around for decades. The "M" is for Monsieur.
