  GrahamClayton: Dr. Howard D. Trimpi, 87, of Macungie, died January 15, 2005 in Lehigh Valley Hospital after a brief illness. He was a retired Allentown physician and father of six. Dr. Trimpi received his bachelor of arts and doctor of medicine degrees from Emory University. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he undertook postgraduate work at Temple University Medical School, where he received a master of science degree. He was an associate professor of surgery at Philadelphias Hahnemann Medical School before coming to Allentown. Dr. Trimpi served as president of Pennsylvania Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He was a diplomat of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and a fellow of the American Proctologic Society. He was president of the International Academy of Law and Science. He worked as a staff member of Allentown and Sacred Heart hospitals and Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was profiled in Whos Who in America. Dr. Trimpi loved music and chess. He was former president of the Allentown Chess Club and grandmaster of the American Federated Chess Club. He shared his last years with his close friend, Jeanne Trainer.
