Dec-14-21  Alan McGowan: He was born as Marton Blum in Hungary in 1916 or 1917 (the 1939 England Register gives 15 Oct 1917, but his death record gives 15 Oct 1916).

In England he was known as Martin Blum before his 1946 naturalization, when he became Martin Blaine. (The Gazette, 21 February 1947, p863.)

Dec-15-21  Nosnibor: I first met Martin Blaine when he played for Middlesex in a County Match against Leicestershire (8/5/1965). I was on Board 11 for Leicestershire and beat his team mate Poutrous. He was on Board 10 and drew with Jack Alster. At that time he appeared to be in his late thirties.
