Dec-14-21  Alan McGowan: Re 'Perhaps Martin Blaine':-

In the CG page for Martin Blaine it is stated that Blaine's original name was Blum and that he was from Hungary.

Magyar Sakktörténet volume 4, p.36, gives the result of a tournament at Budapest 1936:- Gereben, Szily 8, Tipary 6½, Wiesel 5, Lindner 4½, Rothauszky 4, Füstér 3½, Kovách Z. 2½, Máté 2, Blum 1.

It appears, therefore, that the two games shown here under M. Blum were from this tournament. Like the change of name debate with Weinstock-Vine, perhaps they could remain under Blum with a link to Blaine, and vice-versa.

Dec-14-21  Alan McGowan: Marton Blum was born in Hungary in 1916 or 1917 (the 1939 England Register gives 15 Oct 1917, but his death record gives 15 Oct 1916).

In England he was known as Martin Blum before his 1946 naturalization, when he became Martin Blaine. (The Gazette, 21 February 1947, p863.)
