Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-11-17  Nosnibor: I first played Ken McAlpine in the British U18 Championship in Aberystwyth when we had an exciting drawn game. The following year when he was only 17 Ken finished second in the Scottish Championship with 5.5/8 only half a point behind the winner W.A. Fairhurst whom he beat in his individual game. The previous year he was also Scottish Boys Champion.
Oct-21-17  Cibator: <Nosnibor:The previous year he was also Scottish Boys Champion.>Yes, that was a real come-from-behind affair. McAlpine had to win his final-round game with main rival A M Davie to tie the scores, then beat him again in the play-off.
