Retireborn: Was the identity of this guy ever cleared up? Chessbase 2002 and Kalendovsky/Swift call him Dr Bechstedt, but I assume that's his medical title.
Apr-01-18  whiteshark: For the Giessen 1928 games:

<Dr Bechstedt> acc.to https://www.365chess.com/tournament...

<Robert Bechstedt> acc.to Chessbase Megabase 2018

In 1930 <Robert Bechstedt> played a 6 game match in Detmold against Adolf Kramer acc. to chess historican <Ralf J. Binnewirtz>. He found two games of that match in the <Kölner Schachzeitung 1931> (Partie Nr. 42) --> http://www.binnewirtz.com/Texte/wei... (page 7)

Retireborn: <whiteshark> Thanks. Robert it is then.

Ado Kramer's name is spelled Kraemer in your link and in the Giessen booklet.

Tabanus: Some online chess sources has Dr. Robert Bechstedt of Metzlar, later Göttingen. Based on that, Tab strikes again: Robert August Rudolf Bechstedt:

Tabanus: <R> I'm past 60 now, getting kinder every year :)

Wetzlar, not Metzlar. It is indeed him, see page 3 of the link where he lived in Wetzlar 1927-1929. I find no info on his death. Last trace of him seems to be Lüneburg April 1939.

Apr-01-18  whiteshark: <Tabanus> Great find!

On page 1, #5 the handwriting implies that from Aug 1914 to Nov 1919 he did frontline duty and was in war captivity.

Apr-03-20  cameosis: <Retireborn> bechstedt was a teacher, not a physician. doctor is an academic title (= ph. d).
