offramp: I think he is as his first game, E Torre vs Lee, 1970, was definitely played by Peter N Lee.
May-23-05  Runemaster: I think the player who won the simul against Karpov is Edward Lee, then about 14, of Barkingside or Barking in England. I remember that at the time there was quite a lot of publicity about his successes in simuls - I think he beat 5 GMs, including Korchnoi. I have sometimes wondered what happened to him.

  offramp: You are right!

"Anatoly Karpov played a simultaneous exhibition against the BCF Junior squad on 25 boards at Westergate School on April 13th 1982. It lasted over 6 hours and the final result was +11 -4 =10. The four winners were John Cox, John Richardson, Alan Byron and the very bottom board 14-year old Edward Lee of Essex. Karpov said it was the strongest opposition he had ever met in such an event..."

- BCM June 1982 p 247.

Did Lee subsequently die in a swimming accident?

offramp: In simuls Edward Lee scored 7 wins in a row against top GMS: Nunn, Speelman, Ftacnik, Kochiev, Kupreichik, Karpov and Kortschnoi.
Mar-13-06  EmperorAtahualpa: This should go as chessgames.com's weirdest Quote of the Day so far:

"The less effort, the faster and more powerful you will be."

Jan-05-09  NakoSonorense: The famous Ken Lee!
