Major lyrical voice since 1913, with a series of striking publications, and translator of Shakespeare, Goethe, Kleist, Verlaine etc His great novel in two volumes Доктор Живаго (Dr. Zhivago), in which he was working since the mid forties, was censored in his own country, and appeared first in Italy, then became an immediate success in all the world. Pasternak was awarded the Noble prize for Literature in 1958, but had to refuse the honour due to political persecution - actually, he arrived to be judged for perfidious charges, and excluded from the oficial writer's union!
Feb-10-12  brankat: A great writer!

R.I.P. Boris Pasternak.

Feb-11-12  TiburcioTinio: I like to see a picture of this guy.
Jul-20-14  GumboGambit: According to Rybka, Zhivago would have been better served to stick with Tonya, his loyal devoted wife. Chasing Lara led to complications and left him vulnerable to counterattack.
Feb-10-16  TheFocus: Happy birthday, Boris Pasternak.
