Fusilli: Something seems wrong about this man playing the World Junior Championship in 1977. He was too old. His FIDE card does say birth year 1950, though: https://ratings.fide.com/profile/32....

Is it possible that the player in the WJC was a different Kai Jensen?

Stonehenge: https://danbase.skak.dk/skakbladet/... (p. 139) also has Jensen New Zealand.

Maybe 1950 is just a typo.

Stonehenge: Or there is a Kai Jensen from Oz and one from NZ. Seems odd, given the name.

Fusilli: Thanks <Stonehenge>. It does appear that the WJC Jensen was a NZ player.

I just found a website on NZ chess, run by Michael Roy Freeman. There, I found this page that lists the crosstable of the NZ schoolpupil championship in 1975:

http://www.poisonpawn.co.nz/chess/a...

The winner was a K. J. Jensen.

There is no K. Jensen in this database other than the Australian player on whose page we are discussing this.

If we don't unearth further info, I'll shoot an email to Mr. Freeman asking him about his countryman.

Or maybe one of our own users, from that corner of the world, can clarify?

In the end, it looks like <CG> may need to create a new player page and move the 1977 WJC games to the new page.

Stonehenge: I have changed the bio to simply saying <New Zealand>.

Perhaps https://ratings.fide.com/profile/32... is the same player but his DOB is a typo and should be 1959 or 1960.

Fusilli: <Stonehenge> Cool. I reach out to Freeman. He is his contemporary, so we may find out his real birth year, or at least we can edit the bio to a smaller error than the present one. The age cap for the WJC is 20. I actually went over every player in the 1977 tournament and found two born in 1956. But who knows, maybe some rules allowed them to qualify and play after their 20th birthdays.
