  Stonehenge: Old news but:

<The court in Leeuwarden has sentenced the 56-year-old former chess grandmaster Yge V. from Haren to compulsory treatment. The TBS* lasts a maximum of four years. V. has been guilty of threats, defamation and harassment. For example, he sent messages to family, among others, in which he threatened to slaughter the recipient. Because he has disorders, this behavior cannot be blamed on him. The man has a distorted sense of reality. He has no illness awareness or insight. The chess player is therefore completely insane.>

https://www.rtvnoord.nl/nieuws/2190...

*TBS is a measure in Dutch criminal law that the court can impose on a suspect of a crime punishable by at least four years imprisonment or of a number of specifically mentioned offenses ( e.g. threat and stalking). The condition is that the judge is convinced that at the time of the offense the suspect was suffering from a deficient development or morbid disorder of the mental faculties.

Nov-27-22  stone free or die: By "Old news" is meant 2020-02-17.

He was originally convicted in Oct 2019 by a lower court, which held that he was likely to escalate verbally abusive behavior to physical. That ruling did not impose a maximum duration for the TBS.

The higher court held him unlikely to escalate, and therefore restricted the ruling by imposing a maximum duration of four years. Which means he has one more year left of supervision.

(That's my reading - corrections welcome)
