Feb-12-06  Chessman1: Maybe it's Paul Kroger, President and CEO of Kroger.
Aug-05-08  myschkin: . . .

Jan-13-24  stone free or die: <myshkin : . . .

The Hamburg master Paul Krüger (1871-1939) enjoyed taking part in small local tournaments in the 1920s. He was once interviewed by a reporter from the Kreisblatt during such a tournament. After a short time it turned out that the writer of the paper had no idea about chess - Krüger didn't miss this opportunity to make fun of him.

The next day, the astonished Kreisblatt subscribers read: “The most exciting game of yesterday's round was played between the Hamburg champion Krüger and our top player M. M. opened as the attractive player this time with the black stones. The guest parried with the dreaded king tiger variation of the queen's game and managed to bring the king into play early on. In a series of powerful moves, the white king attacked the black queen, chasing her across the chessboard and ultimately luring her into a deadly trap!”

perfidious: Games submitted actually get posted, and often quickly--things are not as they once were.
Jan-14-24  stone free or die: <MissScarlett: Why post it here and not submit it?>

Guess I've fallen out of the habit.

Plus, posting it allows instant review and access, and evaluation of worth for inclusion.

I'd like a simple tag allowing a post pgn to get included in the database.

(Please don't get on my tail about wasting valuable DB space with such a post - given <dice>'s voluminous, er, "contributions".

Besides - after promotion the PGN could automatically be removed from a tagged post with the game link replacing it.)
