|
| May-09-11 | | dakgootje: well come to the sight! Is there a, Sigh, lend-notice here? Guess your time will be overbooked for the time being :/ Hehe, that was bad xD I shall blame the earlyness of day - although objectively that is no excuse. It is now. |

| May-09-11 | | Benzol: Hello CG librarian. Like <crawfb5> I like your avatar. Hope that it won't just be one way traffic and that you will post occasionally on at the kibitzers cafe or on other premium member forums. I think we're all looking forward to a beneficial relationship chesswise with you. Cheers.

| May-09-11 | | TheFocus: <CG Librarian> Wonderful! It will be great working with you. I can see that several of us historians have already dropped in. Love the avatar. Don't let mine scare you. |
|
| May-09-11 | | wordfunph: <CG Librarian> should be only one player page for Ewald J Gossmann and Ewald Gossmann, thanks. |
|
| May-09-11 | | wordfunph: <CGL> it should be Buenaventura Villamayor and not Buenaventura Bong Villamayor. GM Villamayor's nickname is Bong. |
|
| May-09-11 | | wordfunph: <CGL> R Nava and Roderick Nava as one player page. |
|
May-10-11
 | | CG Librarian: Thanks <wordfunph>, but please use the correction form (only post it here if you have a question about the correction). I've fixed Gossmann and Nava, but since we get games under the name Bong Villamayor and he's known by that name, I think we'll keep it as it is. |
|
| May-10-11 | | wordfunph: ok, thanks <CGL>.. |

Question to all:
<Dr.*> Wolfgang (Volfgangs) Hasenfuss (Hazenfuss) (born 1900, date of
death unknown) was a Latvian chess master of Baltic German ethnicity. Wolfgang R Hasenfuss
R V Hazenfuss Problem: Does anyone know what <R> stands for? e.g. via scoresheets Sources (indicating that this is the same player):

* personal guesswork, in German books you can find indications for the title ~ <Dr.Hasenfuß> lettischer Fernschachspieler |

| May-12-11 | | Jack Bauer: A blonde goes into a library and says, “Hello. I’m here to see the doctor.” The librarian replies, “This is a library.”
So the blonde lowers her voice and says, “Oh sorry!” Then whispers, “I’m here to see the doctor.” ***peace*** |

 | | chessgames.com: Re: Reshevsky vs J Kostro, 1968 A correction slip reads: <In Reshevsky's book "The Art of Positional Play", moves 63-66 do not take place. White's 63rd move is Kg4, (which you have as move 67). Then all proceeds as normal and the game ends with the same position but on white's 75th move instead of 79th.> Rather than try to reconstruct this game based on the description above (which is always a hassle, due to the need to renumber the moves), we tried to locate an alternate PGN for this game at Chesslab, 365chess, etc. Unfortunately they all have the same 79 moves we have. Does anybody have PGN for this game which follows the version in The Art of Position Play, ending on move 75? Also, the score we have seems to make perfect sense. Do you suppose it's possible that old Sammy snipped a few moves out of the book for the sake of clarity? |

 | | Phony Benoni: <chessgames.com> re: Reshevsky vs J Kostro, 1968 No proof, but a couple of comments. There would have been a time control at move 72, so the sequence makes perfect sense as a time-saver for Reshevsky, a notorious time-pressure addict. The moves might have been stripped as part of publication. As I recall, the games were originally published as a column in Chess Life/Chess Life & Review before being collected in the book. Either publisher might have snipped the unnecessary moves to fit the space available. |
