Apr-24-10 | | technical draw: Weeee!! I won all four of the first round propositions. I'm back in the running, (although not by much). |
Apr-24-10 | | Xenon Oxide: Hedged my bets. I bet on a decisive result on Topalov vs Anand (buying both tickets), under 40 moves (odds looked great), and in the openings I bought all the d4 tickets. I think I'm earning a net gain of +200ish. Sweet. |
Apr-24-10 | | Xenon Oxide: Correction: +500ish. |
Apr-24-10 | | Xenon Oxide: Hmmm, odds on Topalov very low... I think the real chances are much higher because of the psychological state. (Anand made a bad blunder in prep, this kind of loss is more difficult to cope with than being outplayed.) |
Apr-24-10 | | technical draw: Hey, bookie, I have zero chessbucks to bet with. If you pay the last round I'll have 1400 bucks available. Pay up, I want to bet on the next Topy/Vishy game. |
Apr-24-10 | | wordfunph: <CG Bookie> same goes with me. zero fund and i want to bet on the next Anand-Topalov game. please give me my $839..i need it badly. |
Apr-24-10 | | danielpi: Pay up, bookie. I got bets I wanna play. |
Apr-25-10 | | technical draw: Well, the bookie didn't pay on time for me to bet in the second game. Which is good because I would have lost! Thanks. |
Apr-25-10 | | Xenon Oxide: Hey Chessgames Bookie:
A suggestion for an exotic for Topalov vs Anand: "GRUENFELD OR NOT". It would be interesting to see whether Anand will abandon the opening or stick with it, after the first round. Thanks :) |
Apr-27-10 | | Barok Espinosa: Something's wrong with the loanshark. Not enough cb to loan us? Okay you may deduct $77 each day from my net worth up to the final result of Anand-Topalov match. I won't bother you anymore with additional cb. |
Apr-27-10 | | wordfunph: <loanshark> isn't generous lately, he showed me his $100...i have to bite the bullet. |
Apr-27-10 | | SloVice: <wordfunph> <Barok Espinosa> You're right about the loanshark. It's been 8 days since I was last offered a loan. I have 0 cb. I can't pay back my loan, nor can I place bets to try to make some cb to pay my loan. |
Apr-28-10
 | | Chnebelgrind: <Barok Espinosa> <wordfunph> <SloVice> Chessgames bookie was warning you. See his post Apr-05-10: <think twice before investing your entire wad in long-term bets.> |
Apr-28-10 | | SloVice: <Chnebelgrind> Two things: 1) The exact chessbookie warning was <We'll have other bets for ongoing events before the 23rd, so think twice before investing your entire wad in long-term bets>. It is now after the 23rd. 2) The chessbookie help page says <The Loanshark is your guarantee that you can always play the game. No matter how poorly you are doing, you can always go to the loanshark to get some more chessbucks> I guess technically, I am still playing, because I have some long term bets. But I didn't place those until near the closing time. I think 9 days now since the last offer is a bit extreme. So right now I can't get good credit unless I get a loan and I can't get a loan unless I have good credit. |
Apr-28-10
 | | Chnebelgrind: <SloVice> Sorry for my quizzical note. It seems that there really is a bug! |
Apr-28-10 | | Xenon Oxide: Dear Chessbookie:
Why hasn't the <Nalchik Women's Grand Prix: Rd 3> tickets been paid off yet? I'm still waiting for cash! :P |
Apr-29-10 | | Xenon Oxide: Thank you, Chessbookie! I needed the capital :) |
May-02-10 | | technical draw: Hey, the loanshark called me a two bit deadbeat. I just might take my business elsewhere. |
May-02-10
 | | Open Defence: who knew the loanshark was a good judge of character ? :) |
May-02-10 | | technical draw: Well, I got even. I hit him with a sock full of quarters. |
May-02-10 | | wordfunph: the key is to befriend <CG Bookie> and <loanshark>.. :-) my fund is zero and <loanshark> doesn't mind lending...that's life. |
May-04-10
 | | Chnebelgrind: <Chessgames bookie> Please do not pay out this ticket: World Championship: Game 8: Topalov vs Anand: Opening : 1.d4 d5 1300 I made it, when the moves already were played!
The deadline should be set ahead. |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Chnebelgrind> Thank you very much for pointing that out. Apparently they started the game a few minutes early today allowing you to sneak that bet in (our clock showed 7:58am). In the future we'll set such bets to close a full 5 or even 15 minutes prior to game time. I do wish however you would have simply posted that you MIGHT have placed such a large bet, instead of actually doing it. Because of your demonstration, we had to break out special software that realigns the odds for every winning ticket. It gets very messy: a few people already cashed in their winning ticket, for a smaller sum than what they are actually due, so their accounts had to be given extra chessbucks. Meanwhile your ticket had to be refunded, and all of the pools recomputed. It's not so much the use of the software that bothers me, just that events like this always cause confusion to the other players. Anyhow, I can't criticize you for your honesty, so thank you for pointing that out. In summary: everybody's account is where it should be, Chnebelgrind's gigantic ticket has been refunded, the odds of World Championship: Game 8: Topalov vs Anand: Opening have been recomputed, and we will update our policy of when to close such bets in the future. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <Bookie: we will update our policy of when to close such bets in the future.> That's certainly the safe way to go, but perhaps you should also update your clock :) |
May-04-10
 | | Chnebelgrind: <Chessgames Bookie> I apologize for the trouble caused. I didn't consider the consequences. I am disconsolate to have raised that difficulties for you. Thanks for refunding my chessbucks. I did not think a lot and only intended to make a joke. I would be the last to obstruct the cours of this fascinating game. |
