| Aug-10-10 | | malthrope: <ChessBookie> - now that we have completed the penultimate round bets for FIDE Women Grand Prix (2010) tourney felt obligated to bring this to your immediate attention (Re: Time of last round #11 start). :) _____________________________________
Translation via Google: <Start time: 09:00 (15:00 local time), possibly last round from 07:00> Original Source (ChessBase Turnierkalendar): http://chessbase.de/events/kalender... _____________________________________
The above trusted source (one of many that I use) is generally 'spot-on' with the information supplied. I assume they get their info directly from the organizers of the Chess events they list well in advance. ;) I've also posted it in my <Current Chess Events> ~August~ calendar like so: <The rounds start at 15:00 (last round 13:00) and 'rest days' on Aug 3rd & 8th.> The official website: http://ulaanbaatar2010.fide.com/ It makes sense as their 'schedule' indicates this: <14th day: 11th August 2010 - Round 11 & Closing Ceremony> As it's customary when the 'closing ceremony' follows the last round almost always the final round starting time is [has been] adjusted. Note also your ending time on bets (just past midnight <CG.com> server time) is several hours ahead of the actual round start. Having caught it early one night (at 12:45 AM PDT) and convinced myself the positions I'm now looking at took place during the first hour of play. Anyhoo, I'll check it again later tonight and verify the actual starting time prior to the last round bets. :) All the Best, - Mal
PS: Two Chess events of keen interest are starting up in a few days... <*grin*> ...from my <Current Chess Events> calendar: < NH Chess Tournament - 'Rising Stars vs Experience' (Aug 12th-22nd) in Amsterdam. It's back and it looks like the Experienced team is gonna get serious - I smell blood! The prize of choice for the upstarts as always is that free ticket to Amber! :) The 2 teams will play against one another in a double round-robin (Scheveningen) with the following lineups: Experience: GM's Boris Gelfand, Peter Svidler, Peter H. Nielsen, Loek van Wely & Ljubomir Ljubojevic pitted against the Rising Stars: GM's Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, Anish Giri & David Howell. The TC in use is 2H/40 + 30 m + 30 spm (from move #41). Rounds start at 13:30 (last round begins at 12:00) with one 'rest day' on the 17th. Website: http://nhchess.com/ > and...
< A 6 game match between Zahar Efimenko vs Arkadij Naiditsch (Aug 12th-18th) in Mukachevo, Ukraine. The classical TC's are 2H/40 + 60/20 + 30 min. All rounds begin at 14:00 (one 'rest day' on the 15th). Website (English version): http://efimenko.chess32x64.org/Najd... > Hoping you can bring us some exciting bets with lots of multiple twist & turns! (Winners, Pick-3's, opening choices, and how many draws?), ect. ~lol~ ;) |

| Aug-10-10 | | edsauced: Huh?? 3 games of Round 11 (Women GP) are closed already, and the other 3 are open with 2.3 hours left?? |
|
| Aug-10-10 | | edsauced: Correction, the 3 still open says "CLOSES: Oct-11-10", so "TIME LEFT: 61 days, 23:14:22". Could ChessBookie correct them all, reopen the closed ones and fix the closing date of the open ones? |
|
| Aug-10-10 | | edsauced: Hmm, now everything is closed. Looks like technical difficulties. I hope they reopen. |
|
| Aug-10-10 | | edsauced: Oh, I see the games have already begun. It was a pity that bets were closed suddenly, with a wrong "time left" data. Still, I guess it was the correct thing to do, as no bets should be open at game start time. |

<edsauced: Oh, I see the games have already begun. It was a pity that bets were closed suddenly, with a wrong "time left" data. Still, I guess it was the correct thing to do, as no bets should be open at game start time.> Caught your multiple postings just after I'd posted. Now 'deleted' as this now becomes the 'edit' of my original post... Yes, I agree 110% the 'live' boards now display (first thing I checked out) last round #11 has just started:
http://ulaanbaatar2010.fide.com/liv... (these games started at 10 PM <CG.com> server time). Too bad as the final match-up between GM's Hou Yifan & Antoaneta Stefanova should be both dramatic and exciting! :XD Grand Prix Ulaanbaatar: Rd 11: Stefanova vs Hou
<BETTING IS CLOSED
FINAL ODDS ARE POSTED BELOW>
Guess we can expect full refunds on all bets made... They started the last round 5 hours early (not 2 hours as I reported previously by the ChessBase Turnierkalendar). Since, I could find <'no information'> whatsoever on the official website as to the starting time of the last round. :(( The "Good News" is all bets from the previous round #10 are now paid off. :) Win some, lose some... :P
Hopefully, the NH Chess Tournament - 'Rising Stars vs Experience' (Aug 12th-22nd) in Amsterdam and the 6 game match between Zahar Efimenko vs Arkadij Naiditsch (Aug 12th-18th) in Mukachevo, Ukraine will be up and running very shortly. :) It would be nice to see some tourney links posted on the <CG.com> homepage as well! <*grin*> ♙♙♙♙♖♘♗♕♔♗♘♖♙♙♙♙
<whiteshark: My CI says the loan shark is recently on tour in China: [ http://israelfinancialexpert.blogsp... ]> Hahaha! Nice one <whiteshark> ;) Can't wait until <ChessBookie> explains that one... <"Mish on China's Shark Loan Ponzi Finance"> ~lol~
<Take care... :D>
You too <whiteshark> =) ♙♙♙♙♖♘♗♕♔♗♘♖♙♙♙♙
<stillirise: How often does it generally take to pay out winnings?> Generally speaking <ChessBookie> has been very good paying off the tourney bets sometime in the afternoon. In the past, <ChessBookie> has often waited until his 'juice' was collected first (at 12 midnight daily). Hope that helps a bit! :) Best Always, - Mal |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <maltrope and others> Something needs to be cleared up before I pay off the 11th round bets of the Ulaanbaatar tournament. The betting closed on the 10th at 9pm USA Eastern time. Where the games already underway at this time? Any information would be appreciated. |

| Aug-11-10 | | wordfunph: <CGBookie>
bettings closed at around 12 noon yesterday local time (Manila Philippines) and games started at around 1pm.. |
|
| Aug-11-10 | | edsauced: I do not know when the first 3 games bets closed. The other 3 closed a few minutes before chessbomb started relaying the games. So, I suppose they closed before the actual start. But only a few minutes if any, not a full hour. |

The betting closed on the 10th at 9pm USA Eastern time. Where the games already underway at this time? Any information would be appreciated.> <ChessBookie> - I can provide you the following information (based on my previous post and acute observations made at the time). <Note>: I'm using mostly my time 'PDT' (3 hours difference) and let you work out the various calculations of: <my time vs your time> as it was just too confusing otherwise for me. ;) The games (last round #11) started at 7 PM PDT sharp (5 hours early). If memory serves I was already posting here (apx 7:20 PM PDT). For which I then had to delete this post for a lengthy re-edit (didn't see at first <edsauced> multiple replies already on board). Probably you've retained exact records ('time wise') when you were cancelling the final Rd #11 bets at your end. :) At the time you were cancelling them (I'll estimate here) the games were already in progress and I believe you had finished all of the cancellations somewhere between 7:20 - 7:40 PM PDT. <Note>: all of this occured well before the 'official bet closing time' scheduled for 12 midnight 'EDT' (plus the extra 5-6 minutes tacked on) had arrived. If there is anything further you might need I'd be more than glad to help. :)) All the Best, - Mal
PS: Made one light 'edit' when quoting you above -- <malthrope> ...which is fun for me as now I'll have to check all the rest of these various spellings as well: <maltrope>. <malthorpe> and of course just <mal> when searching! ~lol~ :P |

You're welcome anytime <ChessBookie> :)) BTW: <ChessBookie> - the Match game #5 bet is just now underway: Match Game 5: Efimenko vs Naiditsch
<BETTING IS CLOSED>
It's a 6 game match and as of this post time you have still not posted the last match game #6 yet? Omission?? FYI: All match games start at 15:00, so there is no need to alter the betting post time for the last game. The official website (English version): http://efimenko.chess32x64.org/Najd... Click on <'Schedule'> in the left frame and it takes you right to it. :) TIA! ;)

| Aug-17-10 | | SloVice: Let's take a closer look at the current standings, the top 10 plus some others. I've included the user's best finish if in the top 10. 235th - <Sneaky> (1st Summer 2007) - Must be having an off-leg.
209th - <Winter> (1st Spring 2010) - Last leg's winner is currently struggling. 204th - <technical draw> (3rd Winter 2008) - See? You did well before. Currently still in the black. 180th - <capatal> (1st Summer 2009) - Long way to get back to former glory. 134th(t) - <NakoSonorense> (2nd Fall 2008) - 4 time qualifier. Keep Going. 10th - <Barok Espinosa> (1st Winter 2010) - A powerhouse. It seems he's
always on the leaderboard.
9th - <wordfunph> - I'm almost certain I've seen you on the leaderboard before, but no qualifications... yet. 8th - <moronovich> - (3rd Spring 2009, Winter 2010) - Been here before. Trying to push for the victory. 7th - <SloVice> - (7th Spring 2009) - Yours truly. I don't feel safe in 7th with so many so close behind. On the positive side, I'm normally just trying to stay in the black. 6th - <Chnebelgrind> - (1st Fall 2008) - Another former winner. Can get the job done. 5th - <malthrope> - (2nd Summer 2008) - So close once. Could this be the leg? 4th - <Touch of Knight> - (2nd Winter 2009) - Ditto. 3rd - <Rookheight> - Is <Rook> also short for rookie? An upset in the making? 2nd - <gus inn> - (6th Summer 2009) - In great position to improve on 6th at the very least and maybe unseat a heavy favorite. 1st - <SwitchingQuylthulg> (1st Spring 2008, Summer 2008, Spring 2009) - AKA <Domination> or AKA <luckiestdudeever> depending on your point of view. But you don't win 3 times based on luck... or do you? Is this game even a challenge for you anymore? And how do you pronounce the last part of your name? I've always wondered that. Yes, I'm too lazy to look it up. Ok, We have some former winners and qualifiers struggling. But more importantly, we have THREE former winners in the top 10 and EIGHT former qualifiers total in the top 10. Wow. This could be quite a battle. |

| Aug-17-10 | | wordfunph: <Slovice> thanks for the review, great consolation for me to be with the big guns. good luck to you <Slovice> and all other bookie super-GMs.. fight! |

Alas, no new tabulations made or processed.
Worst yet, we weren't even allowed access.
Sigh...>
♙♙♙♙♖♘♗♕♔♗♘♖♙♙♙♙
<ChessBookie> - I've checked every Gin joint and dark alley juice BAR both East & West of the Mississippi hoping to find you and no where were you to be found - anywhere? Many small bettors all lose out on the opportunity to make another bet when settlement payoff dates elapse and are not met on time. The big bettors then get upset when the small bettors, feeding their frenzy, all miss out on next day's bet for simple lack of funds to even make or place a modest bet... :(( An endless repetitive cycle and all this really needs to stop - now <.> =) Best Regards, - Mal

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <Bookie> This isn't funny anymore. I've already had one good leg ruined just because my tickets, or anyone else's for that matter, weren't paid up on time, just like now. That's not happening to me again; I've learned to watch out for that, which of course shouldn't even be necessary, and still means I can't bet anything like normally. But just because it's not happening to me doesn't mean it isn't happening, or couldn't happen, to somebody else. Maybe somebody who would otherwise have won this leg is now going to place 386th instead. Maybe somebody who would otherwise have qualified for the Winter Leg is now never going to be anywhere in the equation. This isn't idle worrying about unlikely things. That really could happen. It already has. Everybody's out of money. If we want money, we have to take out loans, but that means paying completely unfair extra interest just to run out of money anyhow. Those who do still have money can't do much with it because if they make a bet, who's going to balance the odds? Make a huge bet normally and the market swallows it. Make one now and you'll end up looking at closing time odds of 1.27. Making small bets is a lot less lucrative without any of those huge bets to spice things up. <We're not talking about some minor glitch that just waters action down a bit for a couple days and then everybody forgets it ever happened. ChessBookie economy doesn't work that way. This whole leg is already a complete joke.> |
