Oct-10-10  malthrope: <Chessgames Bookie: [...] Wagers will appear soon. Good luck to all!>

Many thanks for getting the bets up and running quickly for the Fall Betting leg! Also, the minor adjustments you just made to reflect the actual starting times of the Bilboa rounds. Much appreciated. :)

Note: I was a tad late this month (posting my October calendar in <Current Chess Events>), but this it what it looks like:

< The Bilboa Masters Grand Slam Final with <SUPER GM's> Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand, Vladimir Kramnik & Alexei Shirov takes place from October 9th-15th in Bilbao, Spain. It's a six-round double round-robin event using a TC: 90/40 + 60 min + 10 spm (from move #41). Normal point system in use 1-½-0. The rest day takes place on Oct 12th. All games begin at 10:30 <CG.com> server time (venue time at tourney 16:30). A Category XXII event, so don't you dare miss it! The website: http://www.bilbaofinalmasters.com/2... >

Should be fun! ;)

A sincere belated Congrats to <Robin01> for sweeping the <ChessBookie> house in the Summer betting leg w/ $22,216 not too shabby -- well done! :XD Nice job for 2nd place by <Graf Zeppelin> w/ $14,477 and 3rd place <Chnebelgrind> w/ $13,162 too! :)

Presented the complete list for the <"Top Ten"> results in my <Betting/Congrats Quote of the Month> :D

"Good Luck" to everyone! :P

My Best, - Mal

PS: <Henryaw: Thanks to Chessgame Bookie. I very like gambling without real money!!>

Hehehehe... We all do! It takes the raw <pain> away but not the tasty <zing!> ~lol~ ;)

PPS: Oct-04-10 <wordfunph: [...] and to <<malthrope>> for making me smile reading his bookie kibz..>

Thanks loads <wordfunph> :))

Oct-10-10  malthrope: <ChessBookie>:

Whoops! ~lol~ Looks like they are using the 3-point scoring system (3 pts for a win, 1 pt for a draw & 0 pts for a loss). Therefore we can consider it standard practice that all Grand Slam events stemming from Bilboa & Shanghai to conform with this unique scoring system. :) I'm sure I grabbed it from another reputable website but searching in <"Tournament Rules"> (had to search to find it) they state:

<11. The final standings will be determined according to the following criteria:

Players will get 3 points for winning a match, 1 point for drawing and 0 points for losing.>

Source: http://www.bilbaofinalmasters.com/2...

They continue on with points B & C addressing the various tiebreak methods and Blitz matches (Armageddon rules) used to break ties, etc.

I now see that <CG.com> has already made the fine tuning adjustment (on the Bilboa crosstable) to represent the 3-point system. :)

The Bilboa organizers are also present on Twitter [ http://twitter.com/bilboamasters ] should any really tough questions come up. ~lol~

OK -- that should do it! :)

My Best, - Mal

PS: One quick edit <CG.com> got it (fixed the crosstable). ;)

Oct-10-10  TheMissingLink: The 3rd Masters Final supports interesting and novel rules in order to guarantee a battle and spectacle in each game. The so called “Sofia Rule” which states that draw offers will only be allowed by the arbiter, will be applied. The scoring system will be once again similar to football scoring system: Players will get three points for winning a match, one point for drawing and zero points for losing. This scoring system was first applied in an elite chess tournament during the last Bilbao Final Masters 2008, and is known as the “Bilbao Rule”.

  Chnebelgrind: <Kaosking> 3245!

The highest possible score after rd 1 would have been 3260 cb (maximum of 200 cb on every of the four winning tickets)

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Chnebelgrind> I think maximum = c$3286 (1000+1569+82+163+472)... <Kaosking> probably had 100 chessbucks on <1.d4> and 200 chessbucks on each of the other winners.
Oct-10-10  4tmac: 3283? of course, i should be more worried about getting some bets right first....

Oct-10-10  malthrope: Well, in round #2 @Bilboa I had Vishy to win and in the Perfecta <Black-White>, so I'm certainly not complaining! ~lol~ Missed on Carlsen's <1. e4> though. =)
