Mar-20-12  brankat: <Chesssgames Bookie> My apologies! And thank You for the wagering options in the first round of the European Championship.
Mar-20-12  wordfunph: <CGB> Pick4 tomorrow in the 2nd round, please?
Mar-20-12  brankat: <wordfunph> You mean Pick-3?
Mar-20-12  wordfunph: <brankat> <CGB>

i call it Pick4 or SuperPerfecta..

<chessgames.com: For the Gibraltar Rd 10: SUPERFECTA! bet we are trying out a new way of displaying the choices. Instead of the normal pick-three style tickets ("DRAW-WHITE-BLACK") here you'll simply name the winners. For example, instead of calling it "black-black-black-black" we call it "Mamedyarov-Adams-Svidler-Kortchnoi". Furthermore, if the ticket says simply "Hou" then it will pay off only if Hou wins and all other boards are draws.>

Mar-20-12  brankat: Yes, I remember the bet now.
Mar-20-12  dakgootje: imagine the odds for Baron/Kabanov/Drenchev if we'd had a p-3 today ;)
Mar-20-12  brankat: The odds are easy to imagine, but that kind of an outcome is not :-)
Mar-20-12  dakgootje: Think it would be heavily overvalued actually. People would see odds like 1000:1 and think it's a great bet regardless of actual odds.

The chance of it actually happening is very very small indeed :P

Mar-20-12  wordfunph: ..though i would toss my $5 for Baron/Kabanov/Drenchev :)
Mar-20-12  brankat: <wordfunph> Of course, I'd venture even $25 :-) Btw, I did just that on Kabanov at 42-1!
Mar-20-12  brankat: Actually, make it 59-1 :-)
Mar-20-12  dakgootje: heh, I actually have a fiver on him as well - don't see it coming through ;)
Mar-20-12  Mozart72: <ChessBookie> Who won on the Mecking vs Granda match?
Mar-20-12  dakgootje: Nobody seems to know. No results can be found on the internet - and apparently the results have not been submitted yet to FIDE.

Penguincw: Maybe all the bets should just be refunded.

SwitchingQuylthulg: Eventually maybe, but there's still plenty of time. There was a refund incident at the end of Fall 2010 when we were betting on WGM Pogonina's next move and she took an extension... (actually, she did make the move just before the leg ended, but the Bookie didn't notice.)

Penguincw: I "heard" (again, I like to go back and read some posts). Luckily, it didn't cost anyone a ticket to champ. leg, I think.
Mar-20-12  dakgootje: Hey bookitibook! Having first round bets was <AWESOME>! Know what would be even <AWESOMER>?!

Second round bets! :D

http://www.eicc2012.eu/rounds has the pairings - though I'm sure You knew that already.

WannaBe: Can't wait to see what <dakgootje> will use for round 4, AWESOMESTER (?).
Mar-20-12  brankat: <dakgootje: Hey bookitibook! Having first round bets was <AWESOME>! Know what would be even <AWESOMER>?!

It's been a long while we had a P-3 wager available.

  Chessgames Bookie: Hello everybody!

First of all let me say that I had to take some time off for personal reasons. I thank Daniel Freeman for covering for me while I was gone. I also thank all of you for your patience.

Next, note that we'll be trying to have daily bets on the European Individual Championships which takes us through the end of the month. Is that the end of the leg? I will check the calendar, and let's just say that I'll make an official proclamation soon about exactly when this leg ends.

About this Mecking-Granda match: it's an amazingly poorly publicized event, but as far as I know it did take place. We'll pay the tickets as soon as we find out the results. TWIC might have something in a few days.

Finally, if you have any other ideas for wagers outside of the Euro Championship, let me know.

And GOOD LUCK!!!

Mar-20-12  wordfunph: welcome back <CGB>!

we need our European Individual Ch Rd1 paycheck..

Baron-Jakovenko 0-1
Mamedyarov-Drenchev 1/2
Kabanov-Caruana 0-1

thanks.

Mar-21-12  brankat: Thanks Bookie. Good to have P-3 again. I just hope that "be careful what you wish for " doesn't come back to haunt me :-)

Chessgames Bookie: Mamedyarov-Drenchev draw paid 15:1, quite possibly the highest odds on a draw that have ever actually paid off.
Mar-21-12  brankat: Yep, the possibility was overlooked. Not by everyone, though :-)
