Apr-21-12  dakgootje: <Wolfgang> At this bookie, parimutuel odds are used, as opposed to fixed-odds. So the players make the odds, instead of playing against the house.

Chessgames Bookie: The wager you've all been waiting for ... Aronian-Kramnik: Round 2

Natalia Pogonina: Actually very nice of Vladimir to make EXACTLY 42 moves! :)
Apr-24-12  WinKing: <chessbookie:Will Tuesday's game be 42 moves or longer? When White (Kramnik) plays his 42nd move the "OVER" ticket will win; if the game ends any earlier than that the "UNDER" ticket pays.>

Awesome call. What are you 'Karnak the magnificent'. 42 moves on the button.

Apr-24-12  technical draw: I think the bookie wants to take El Predicto's job.

Natalia Pogonina: Why is it Kramnik-Aronian again in R4? Aronian will be White!
Apr-24-12  dakgootje: Wow.. that was one amazing o/u-line :|

Some people just got incredibly lucky :P

Apr-24-12  WinKing: <chessbookie> please change to Aronian-Kramnik for Round 4.

Chessgames Bookie: <Why is it Kramnik-Aronian again in R4? Aronian will be White!> So sorry, I just meant to say "The Kramnik vs Aronian match." I switched it so there's no confusion.

I tried to put up "intraday betting" today (a bet that you make while the game is actually in progress) but the game ended the instant I put the wager online. We'll try that experiment again tomorrow. Intraday betting is always fun because it's the one bet where your actual chess skill can help you win!

Oh and yes, the OVER wins!

Apr-24-12  WinKing: Thanks <chessbookie> for correcting the title of Rnd. 4 to Aronian-Kramnik.
Apr-25-12  moulicules: Admin: Why is it that in Kramnik/Aronian Match, only 4 games standard? I thought its 6 games standard!!!"If any of the six Aronian-Kramnik games are draws in under 3 hours, they have agreed to play a rapid game purely for the benefit of the spectators. Will any rapid games be played under these conditions?"

Chessgames Bookie: There was a typo in the example portion of the Aronian vs Kramnik: Rd 6 OVER/UNDER bet which we have now corrected. The over/under line is at 44 now and not 42 like it was earlier.

Chessgames Bookie: <moulicules> <Why is it that in Kramnik/Aronian Match, only 4 games standard? I thought its 6 games standard!!!> I'm sorry I don't understand what you are asking.
Apr-28-12  dakgootje: The o/u ticket still mentions 'white (kramnik)' though, whereas aronian has white this round ;)

Natalia Pogonina: LOL! Last time I made a bet on "42 or more", it was exactly 42. This time on less than 44, and it was 43. :P

Chessgames Bookie: That wager was an error; my apologies.
May-03-12  technical draw: <Bookie> No problem but if you set it up I'll play it again, Sam.
May-04-12  wordfunph: <Chessgames Bookie> with 30 GMs participating and top 5 finishers as World Cup qualifiers, how about adding some Asian flavor to spice up betting?

http://chess-results.com/tnr70397.a...

games begin tomorrow for the Asian Continental Chess Championship 2012 Open Standard Chess.

Chessgames Bookie: The Asian Continental sounds fine as long as we can get pairing info in a timely manner.

On the other side of the globe we have the Capablanca Memorial which just started in Havana. Uncertain on what time the rounds start, I pencilled in 9:00am until we get better info.

Good luck!
