  Chessgames Bookie: A chess tournament in the afternoon for Americans? What an innovation!

  Chessgames Bookie: Chucky fans (or detractors!) will enjoy the Capablanca Memorial Rd 4-6: CHUCKY TRIFECTA where you have to guess how Chucky does on three consecutive rounds.
May-08-12  technical draw: Took out my first loan, $500. Got to get the loan early before the loanshark offers me just $200.

  Chessgames Bookie: Sorry we didn't have the pairings for the US Championship in time; we'll try to have wagers up for round #2.
May-08-12  technical draw: How did I miss the Chucky trifecta? I never saw it posted. One of the nicest bets and I missed it. Set up some more Chucky bets.
May-09-12  Naniwazu: What's the difference between FUNDS and NET WORTH?

Why don't my winnings go into the funds pot?

May-09-12  dakgootje: Funds includes your loan.

Eg if your funds are 100, and your net-worth is -200; then apparently you have a 300 loan.

  Chessgames Bookie: From ChessBookie Game Help Page: <[Net worth] is computed by adding your chessbucks to the face value of all live bets, plus the value of all unredeemed tickets, minus your loan. You cannot change your net worth by buying a ticket, cashing in a ticket, taking out a loan, or repaying a loan. Your net worth does change when the Loanshark charges interest, or when one of your tickets wins or loses.>

About the Chucky-Trifecta, yes we're going to experiment more with these "string bets" that take place over multiple days. Of course it doesn't have to be Chucky, but we figured he would be a popular player to try this out with. It must be very exciting for people with DRAW-WIN-* tickets who are praying for the right result today.

May-09-12  LDJ: I've lost some 300 chessbucks and unfortunately I already know that I'll lose 150 on the Chucky trifecta... Fortunately I could take out a loan on time.. :)
May-09-12  dakgootje: Chucky is the last person I'd want to make a prediction about over a series of days :P

Good to see the pick-3 back though :)

May-09-12  wordfunph: thank you <Chessgames Bookie>!

<Capablanca Memorial Rd 4-6: CHUCKY TRIFECTA : DRAW-WIN-WIN [info] 50 LIVE BET 9:1 10.14 507>

hoping for a win against faltering 2011 European Champion GM Vladimir Potkin :)

May-10-12  Naniwazu: Thank you <Chessgames Bookie> and <dakgootje>.
May-12-12  moulicules: PAGING administrator, Pls pay me Rd 4 game bet. Seirawan vs. Ramirez- 1-0. got 75 bets their, needed for my bet today.
May-13-12  WinKing: No payout yet <chessbookie> on the Nakamura victory over Kaidanov from yesterday!? I'm still holding a winning ticket here that is burning up my fingers.

  Chessgames Bookie: <No payout yet <chessbookie> on the Nakamura victory over Kaidanov from yesterday!?> Hey I'm really sorry about that, I wait as long as I can but if one epic game is dragging on and on, I can't wait all day for it to finish... at some point I have to go to my night job at the horse track. ;-)
May-17-12  wordfunph: <Chessgames Bookie> to make it more exciting, we may try choosing from..

WO WU DO DU BO BU

W = white
D = draw
B = black
O = 41st move and over
U = 40th move and under

also, last captured piece of the game..

Q R B N P

thanks.

  Chessgames Bookie: The wager World Championship Rd 6: OVER/UNDER is now working (it was broken earlier).

You'll notice that I've significantly lowered the over/under guess in light of recent games. "The OVER ticket will win if White (Gelfand) plays his 36th move." Good luck!

  Chessgames Bookie: Luckily, we have special software designed just this occasion. It takes any bets that came in after the true time the bet closed, and refunds them. Then it readjusts the odds for the remaining bets and meddles with people's finances to make sure that everything works out perfectly fairly, just as if those bets didn't happen.

It doesn't penalize anybody for making bets after the game starts, it, just takes their reward away. Sometimes in fact it even refunds money they would have lost.

This is one of several differences between the Chessbookie! game and real life. In the Chessbookie! game I can press a button and everything corrects itself. In real life, my boss Bernie would send me to the bottom of a harbor with lead goulashes.
