In the past pick threes, daily doubles and single games from the wrong rounds have always been annulled with no bets standing (for instance, Chessgames Bookie chessforum, Chessgames Bookie chessforum and Chessgames Bookie chessforum) and informed bettors would expect the same to happen this time, thus not making any bets at all... and, as <brankat> noted, being penalized. When you're penalizing players for being informed you're doing something wrong - and when you're varying from a sensible established practice for no good reason, that isn't good either. The software does that as fairly as possible, splitting the prize pool four ways and then proportionally distributing it to the bettors.
