 | | Chessgames Bookie: Sorry for not answer earlier <then why is the betting closed? Today is a free day...> Last leg a betting window erroneously closed and I reopened it, and was chastised by those players who like to get their bets in at the last minute before the window closes. That doesn't mean it's a new policy to absolutely never reopen a betting window, but let's say I am leaning in that direction from now on. Had I spotted the error before the window closed I would have gladly extended it another day. |

Today is a free day...> Last leg a betting window erroneously closed and I reopened it, and was chastised by those players who like to get their bets in at the last minute before the window closes.> This case is completely different. In the past pick threes, daily doubles and single games from the wrong rounds have always been annulled with no bets standing (for instance, Chessgames Bookie chessforum, Chessgames Bookie chessforum and Chessgames Bookie chessforum) and informed bettors would expect the same to happen this time, thus not making any bets at all... and, as <brankat> noted, being penalized. When you're penalizing players for being informed you're doing something wrong - and when you're varying from a sensible established practice for no good reason, that isn't good either. |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: About the "China USA Summit" — http://sports.sina.com.cn/others/ch... I've only recently learned of this event. Unfortunately the only official page I can find is in Chinese and I am very unclear on the format. Will one nation or the other be declared a total winner, or are the rapid and classical events regarded as separate contests? Do the men and women play together or do they add their scores together? Is a tie possible? I feel ill prepared to hobble together a ""WINNER" bet on this event, especially with the first round already over, but if we can get pairings we'll put up a few bets for the fans of Robson et al. |

 | | WannaBe: The Chinese page did say, China won round 1 7.5-2.5 which leads me to guess the men and women scores are counted together. |

| Jul-28-13 | | WinKing: Dortmund Round 4 is being played tomorrow Mon. 7/29. Why do the Round 4 games show Betting Closes Jul-30-13? |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Dortmund Round 4 is being played tomorrow Mon. 7/29. Why do the Round 4 games show Betting Closes Jul-30-13?> We were told that July 29th was a rest day. Realizing that was untrue, we now rejected all bets made after 8:00am EST this morning and paid the bets off appropriately. (People who made bets after 8am receive a full refund.) In other news, the pick-three for round 4 was based off of round 6 (?) pairings and is therefore refunded. We'll try to get things together better for round 5! |

 | | Chnebelgrind: <bookie> Biel rd 8: Rapport-Ding Liren 0:1 when Rapport made his decisive mistake (11.b3)betting was still possible. |
|
Jul-31-13
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Don't worry Chnebelgrind, we fixed that yesterday.
By "fixed" I mean to say that all bets received after games have started were refunded in full, regardless of whether they would have won or lost. |

|
| Aug-01-13 | | HowDoesTheHorsieMove: <i beat 50 to GM. Bracot to win> Four people were winners according to the Chessbookie. Since one of the four was the favorite there just weren't enough losses to pay the winners much. Two of my three choices won but I barely showed a profit. |

Aug-02-13
 | | Chessgames Bookie: From the help page, <The bookmaker maintains a parimutuel betting pool. ... The amount of money bet on the losers is divided proportionally among the winning tickets.> If there was only one winner you'd get the odds posted, but in the case of extra winners the odds have to be recomputed. In the case of Biel: the little money on Rapport and Nepomniachtchi has to be divided among all the people who bet on Vachier-Lagrave, Bacrot, Ding Liren, Moiseenko. The software does that as fairly as possible, splitting the prize pool four ways and then proportionally distributing it to the bettors. |

|
| Aug-12-13 | | Beholder: World Cup rd 1.2: Judit Polgar-Ortiz Suarez
Surely the "draw" should be payed out, not "Ortiz win"? This bet was for the 2nd game of 1st round, not the whole mini-match. |
