Penguincw: Grr. I hate inflation. Not too long ago, ~3400 cbs were required to be #12, but it has since increased to almost 4000.

...

In other news, very interesting decision going with a bet regarding time: Carlsen-Anand World Championship Match Sochi 2014 Round 6: Deep Thought. However, there are several problems that can arise. Firstly, I assume chess24 is doing the timing thing. However, I've noticed in some long games (ex. https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-t...), chess24 stops keeping track of time. Also, what would happen if there's a tie (or maybe the game is played under protest for some unknown reasons)? Sorry to critical there...

Chessgames Bookie: <Penguincw> Time count will be based from the official site http://www.sochi2014.fide.com/. If ever a problem may arise on time count, all tickets will be refunded. In case of tie, which is very nil to happen, all tickets will be refunded.

Sneaky: <dakgootje> That's his social media manager posting.
Nov-15-14  dakgootje: Ah, of course! That explains everything.
Nov-15-14  MarkFinan: <<In Carlsen-Anand game, who will take the longest time in a single move, who will be the first player to move his Queen, and who will be the player to make the first piece capture of the game. (For example: if Carlsen made the longest time in a single move; Anand was the first who played the queen move, and Carlsen made the first piece capture, the 'Carlsen-Anand-Carlsen' ticket will pay.)>>

Ridiculous wager. I'll probably win something on it because I don't understand what I'm doing, but it's a barrel scraper.

Sneaky: I'm "all in". Throwing my remaining money on Anand and praying to Vishnu.
Nov-16-14  technical draw: I'm in the dreaded 10th place. Dozens sneaking up on me and not to much space to move upward. I have to play heavily and take my chances.
Nov-16-14  Beholder: <technical draw: I'm in the dreaded 10th place. Dozens sneaking up on me and not to much space to move upward.>

Could have been worse, you know. Like 6th place - even more people sneaking up from below (including YOU), even less space above to wedge in. Scary.

Nov-17-14  technical draw: Just like I said, I dropped to 11th which may as well be last place.
Nov-17-14  MarkFinan: Only three bets on tomorrow's game? Can't we have some opening move, who'll castle first, who'll take the most toilet breaks (seriously though....just putting it out there! ) etc etc etc? I've just put 300 on Carlsen thinking he'd have the white pieces tomorrow!? More crazy wagers the better now, I always win when I don't get the lolling bet..lol. ✌

14. technical draw 3,757

Ooh. That's gotta suck. I also had a rough day, as I felt from, 8th to 9th despite not betting anything! But if I do bet something, I'm going to lose cbs. :(

Penguincw: And it gets worst. :( I won 37 cbs today, but dropped from 9th-12th. I don't think to explain this ____ ...
Nov-18-14  wordfunph: mate <Peng>, you're doing well and just keep on going and enjoy. Best of luck to you and to <all>. Fight!

  Penguincw: < wordfunph>

Thanks. :) You're doing well too.

BTW: Error in my above post (as you all know, I'm the worst at proofreading). What I meant to type was "I don't know how to explain this ____ ..."

...

Nov-19-14  technical draw: I'm again at the precarious 10th place. There is no where to maneuver. < Moulecules > is attacking from the rear and <dakgootje> seems out of reach. I'm going all in. That's the only way to break out (or go broke).
Nov-19-14  dakgootje: <and <dakgootje> seems out of reach.>

Not to worry - not for long ;D

Nov-19-14  dakgootje: Ah, who knew, I didn't actually lose.

Well, scrap my last words in that case ;D

Nov-20-14  technical draw: OK, I decided to hedge my bets something that I don't usually do. But this is the last chance for me to get into the $10.000 cbs club for the championship round.

WannaBe: You got momey on Anand, Carlsen, <AND> draw?!!?
Nov-20-14  technical draw: No, Just Carlsen and draw.

  Sneaky: Woah!

<Draw in 40 moves and under [cash in ticket] 289 YOU WIN! COLLECT 1947>

That much more for a stinking draw? Why have I been betting on Anand all this time?

I'm back in the game fellas. A couple more strikes like that, and watch out leaders!

Penguincw: Go <Sneaky>! I have 18 cbs riding on you to win the Fall Leg. Oh wait, the preseason is over (don't ask).

For the record, I also had 5 cbs on myself and 50 on a user that would've paid 19:1 odds...

Nov-22-14  bubuli55: < centralfiles > dropped from the leaderboard to 137. Wow
