Apr-25-15  Kinghunt: Just want to say I'm a big fan of all the more 'unusual' bets you've been putting up (aka, not just win-lose-draw). Thanks so much for doing this, and keep up the great work!

Chessgames Bookie: Thanks for the feedback! I can look at numbers and statistics and try to guess what people like, but there's no substitute for actually hearing from the players.

Penguincw: Grr, I suffered my first overall loss in about a week, dropping about 150 (which is pretty big, considering I usually don't make more than 100/day).

Well played bookie...

A bit of feedback: one thing I always like is "live betting". Unfortunately, I prefer not to wake up early just to bet a few bucks, but I think during the summer leg, you had this one bet where you put up a game bet that would be open <before> the game took place and close <while> the game was in progress.

Anyway, good job with the bets, that <seem> so easy to win, but in reality are not...

I don't understand, although I can't remember the bet properly. Carlsen was undefeated in the Gashimov memorial, so shouldn't this ticket pay?

Uh, Mark, the bet says < "'Carlsen' means Carlsen stays undefeated, but Anand does not;" >. Anand was <also> undefeated, so the "both" ticket paid. :)

Apr-26-15  MarkFinan: <Anand was <also> undefeated, so the "both" ticket paid. :)>

I understand. I completely forgot about the bet but thought I'd ask anyway, it was worth a try :)

At the end of today I'm at 4083. I seriously had 4500 on a single round of betting on the Gashimov memorial, I really had some big bets. God knows how I'm doing this though, lol.

I didn't want to say anything before, but if I read this bet correctly (which i must have) then this was the biggest money printer I've seen at the bookies. 20 games <all> with doubled pawns? Lol.

Apr-27-15  centralfiles: <markfinan> for one ply? Think about it
Apr-28-15  MarkFinan: <Fiddy Centralfiles> For one ply I would have taken the bet even if it was only say.. 8 games as opposed to 20. I'm pretty sure you could look at all the biggest team chess events over the last 10 years, and it's never happened before. Anyways, I pledge myself to your teachings Master Centralfiles, lol. You, Switch and 3 or 4 others are constantly placing top ten, I aim to join you this leg.
Apr-28-15  centralfiles: <markfinan> For one ply means just about any pawn capture in the opening qualifies as a doubled pawn e.g. e4 c5 d4 cxd4 Nxd4 is a doubled pawn game. It's quite rare to play out a full game without this kind of doubled pawn. As it is the bet was decided by only one game with no doubled pawns C Balogh vs E Postny, 2015 Where they agreed to draw early on with all the pawns still on the board. Perhaps "No" should still be a favorite but not a total giveaway at all.
Apr-28-15  centralfiles: <You, Switch and 3 or 4 others are constantly placing top ten, I aim to join you this leg.> :) Except that I intend to compulsively go all in from time to time and crash, While Switch...

Chessbookie Beef?? Haha. Well I'm defo team fiddy if Switch don't put those bucks on the line. C'mon Switch, step up your wager game, lol.

I don't think I've ever been this high, this late in the season. Or maybe I have to realize that I'm a better bettor than I was a few years ago.

Apr-29-15  AnimusEtOblivio: Dear magnanimous Bookie,

It seems that I somehow have two identical losing tickets for:

Russian Junior Ch rd 9: Bukavshin-Paravyan

I am not entirely sure how this has managed to happen, but I thought I would bring it to your attention. It seems like some form of snafu that I thought might draw your interest.

Chessgames Bookie: <AnimusEtOblivio> We're looking into it, but it may take a while to sort out. Don't worry - we'll add the money back to your account if you've lost twice as much as you ought to have.
Apr-29-15  AnimusEtOblivio: Thanks Bookie. I am definitely not a contender at this point, so I am not too worried about being 200 down. It just seems like it might be a bigger issue down the line if it happened to someone in a different position on the leaders board—especially if it was a larger bet.

chessgames.com: <AnimusEtOblivio> I've concluded that there is a bug in which you can place two bets in virtually the same second, if you double-click, or if the server is especially loaded, or some combination. While I work out a fix for this, I added 200 chessbucks to your account.

Damn, that's pretty high odds for a draw. The one time slapping on 25 cbs on an outcome due to high odds actually pays off...

< (5) Penguincw 2,482 >

Wow, the last time I was this high up in the standings was like during the preseason of the Championship Leg. Of course, it's really helpful that <Chnebelgrind> has more cbs than places 2-6 <combined>, basically meaning that even small profits will result in huge shifting in the leaderboard. :)

Streets wanna know. How's Marky the middle aged kid, doing this. Guess who else wants to know?? Marky TMAK, lol. Chneli must have had near a thousand on one of these bets for the amount he has!? He came out of the leftfield, he had to have had hundreds on a very long shot. Fair play to him.

Penguincw: Unbelievable. Today, I had 7 bets totalling 275 chessbucks. I happened to win 275 chessbucks today, so I'm back exactly at 0 (or rather, 2349 cbs). :| Anyone every had these type of days?

I don't want really want to show my tickets, but my strategy isn't really a good one, so why not (not sure if I even have a strategy).

Annie K.: <exactly 0> Yeah, several times. Here's one time I posted about it: Annie K. chessforum (kibitz #3767) (although that was a pretty inactive day)... and then there were days when I had thousands on the line, with a net change in the single digits at the end of the day. :p
