 | | Penguincw: < I just hope ceegee have some kind of disclaimer thing going on, lol. > They actually do. If you log out of <cg>, and try to access the ChessBookie Page, you see this at the bottom: < "DISCLAIMER: Be warned, this game may be habit-forming! This game is for entertainment purposes only; no real money changes hands. No purchase is necessary to play, but you must have a free registration with Chessgames with a verified email address. Registration is confidential, and easy." > < Anyways.. How come I can't get another loan out of the loanshark? My gross funds are all tied up, my net worth is an illusion of wealth, my life is ruined unless the loanshark loosens up. > <Switch> also has the answers to Loanshark problems. However, I believe it's because you have a lot of money on long term bets. Don't worry though; R8 will only feature 4 bets, so you won't miss out on much. :) |
|
| Jul-27-15 | | MarkFinan: I think I've bounced back today, Pengerz. All Adams has to do is win an unloseable game and I should be nearly on 3k. And that loanshark waited until the games had started before offering me a paltry 100 cb's! |
|
Jul-27-15
 | | FSR: <Notice for Tuesday, July 28th: R8 of Biel will be "No Exotics Day!". On this day, there will only be 4 bets: one for each game, and P3 (nothing else).> BORRRING! |
|
Jul-27-15
 | | Penguincw: Oops, sorry <FSR>. This will only a one-time event, and I'm doing this beCause with only 4 bets, I want to see if perhaps people will pool all their money on just 4 bets rather than spread it around 6 or something. Any suggestions for R9? |
|
Jul-27-15
 | | Annie K.: <FSR: <BORRRING!>> Heh... better get used to it, there will be a lot more of these days next leg. ;p |

 | | Penguincw: < Annie: ... Heh... better get used to it, there will be a lot more of these days next leg. ;p > (We) shall see about that! I think including one bet that's not a game bet or DD/P3 is suffice (ex. How many white wins will be there be on the Top 10 Boards?). On a side note, I don't think anyone cares, but I would like to say this anyway: I actually just lost power for about 2.5 hours. It was kinda expected, since Toronto probably leads the <world> in power usage every summer (it also sucks since I'm one of the few households that don't even have A/C; why should I lose power if I'm not using very much of it?!) Anyway, I was contemplating whether or not to call <cg> (he gave me his # number), and had to decide quick, since my phone was at <5%. At that moment, I got power back. :D |
|
Jul-28-15
 | | FSR: Eljanov failing to convert his engine-won ending cost me a fortune. I had bet 100 cbs on him to win, and another 20 cbs on what would have been the winning "Pick Three." Grr. |
|
Jul-29-15
 | | Chessgames Bookie: For R10, I'm going to do a test (you never know what could happen until you've tried it). Aside from the regular 3 in-game bets, I'm going to include not one, not two, but THREE Daily Doubles! No joke. This is probably just a one-time event (I doubt I'll ever get the motivation or opportunity to do it again). The reason why I will have 3 daily doubles is to suit some people's "needs". For example, let's just say you want to double up on your profits, with 2 games that you are sure of the result, but the 3rd game you're not sure. Well, with the 3 Daily Doubles, you can customize it to your wants. As one can imagine, the Daily Doubles will be named "Daily Double 1", "Daily Double 2" and "Daily Double 3". Here is the game for each DD that will be <excluded> from that bet: 1: Eljanov - Adams
2: Vachier-Lagrave - Rapport
3: Wojtaszek - Navara
If you have a hard time remembering, just put the last name of white in ABC order. Due to all these bets, I'll probably only put up one more bet (or maybe not). If I see any DD is having trouble picking up money, I can always put in some of my own. Don't worry folks, if you don't like this, just remember that it's only happening once (or perhaps I'm just being "overly cautious"of potential criticism). I've said this before and I'll say it again: if you have any suggestions, please post them. After Biel, the next major tournament won't be until August 21st (Sinquefield Cup). Until then, I'll just be following the suggestions by 2700chess, mainly the Politiken Cup, British Championship, HZ tournament and the Russian Superfinals (and basically anything else posted there). I'll start working on those bets.
- Penguin
P.S. Biel does <not> start early, right? |
|
Jul-29-15
 | | WannaBe: Last round does <NOT> start an hour early. Still 1400 hour local time. |
|
Jul-29-15
 | | Penguincw: Thanks <WannaBe>. I think I set it at the right time (8 am server time, same as all the other rounds), but if I don't, please speak up. :) |
|
Jul-29-15
 | | WannaBe: I can't speak up, this is a text only forum, I can't do any audio. |
|
| Jul-29-15 | | sydbarrett: More "Guess the opening move(s)" please. I seem to do better on those bets. |

That should put me on 2300. I bet large amounts on the draws so I had to put little amounts on the longshots in the P3 to make up in case the draw tickets lost... which 2 of them did. And I always put a little something on the players with the white pieces, just in case the draw tickets lost... They did, to the players with the black pieces!?
These are the only tips I've giving to the novices, lol. C'mon Frederick, step your bookie game up! I'm just focused on getting a higher place than you this leg.. Chnebly.... It's Darth Chnebly you seek - Moda. |
|
Jul-29-15
 | | FSR: <MarkFinan: ... C'mon Frederick, step your bookie game up!> I'm trying, Mark. My current net worth is 1,858 cbs. Yours is 1,391. |
|
| Jul-29-15 | | MarkFinan: Wait till Pengerz has changed the leader board, Fred. I'm still top ten, in fact I'll bet the 2 Sith lords lost money today too, I've never seen a tournament with so many wins, especially with the black pieces. |
|
| Jul-29-15 | | MarkFinan: Btw.. My net worth will plummet at the end of this tournament. I have daft amounts of cb's on bets that don't look like paying. I might get lucky, but I doubt it. |
|
Jul-29-15
 | | Penguincw: < Mark: Wait till Pengerz has changed the leader board, Fred. > Reminder that I have no control over the leaderboard. I <wish> I did, but I think <Switch> already addressed this: Chessgames Bookie chessforum (kibitz #8599) What I <can> do is payoff bets, create and edit bets (including creating/editing the lines, text box, name and closing time) and also refund any lines I wish. I can also update announcements. However, I have no power over logfiles, leaderboard, Loanshark (so many "L"s), the help page, glossary, chess forecast, etc. I do have the username and password of the Chessgames Bookie account. It's actually just a typical premium member account (believe it or not, it's not a life member on <cg>; its membership is set to expire in 2021), with 2 special powers: it can access the page where one can edit all the bets (I can do that too), and its name does not show up on the Leaderboard, even if it places some bets. Other than that, it's just like a regular account. I even see someone (that's not me) has been playing Guess the Move with it! (I should've volunteered after my membership has expired...) |
|
| Jul-29-15 | | MarkFinan: So the regular winner of all the legs still administrates the chess bookies? He's a Sith lord! He has powers the rest of us could never have because he's turned to the dark side. Seriously. Something ain't right when the guy who wins constantly knows what's going on behind the scenes. |
|
Jul-29-15
 | | Penguincw: < So the regular winner of all the legs still administrates the chess bookies? > I seriously doubt that (you're talking about the Santa guy, right?). However, even if he <does> have access, I haven't seen any suspicious activity. The only information that I can see that you can't is # of bets for each prop (ex. DD1 currently has 335 cbs and 9 bets). When I payoff the bets, it displays all the tickets (and the ticket #), along with the wager, and also what it was wagered on, whether or not it won, and in chronological order (but not the exact time of the wager, and not who placed it). P.S. For whatever reason, I always have various topics/people in my life that I can't seem to stop talking about. Currently, ChessBookie is one of them. :p |

| Jul-30-15 | | scout118: Approx. when is pay day scheduled for this leg?
When does the summer leg end - on or about the end of Millionaires Chess Open 2015 on Oct 12, 2015 perhaps? |
|
| Jul-30-15 | | WinKing: Very conservative betting by the members for a final round. A little over 10K bet...thought there would be more wagered. Everyone is saving up for the
3rd Sinquefield Cup. ;) |
