 | | Sneaky: Right you are, TD, we have become "bookends". |
| Aug-19-07 | | Tactic101: <<<I should have my head examined for doing business with a two-bit degenerate deadbeat like you.>>> Loanshark is a nice person. Real civilized guy. |
| Aug-19-07 | | TIMER: Thanks <lostemperor> It proves that you can still come back from anywhere. I had to go for unlikely but more likely than the odds suggests events give by my limit of 200. It paid off right at the end of the event! <technical draw> and <Sneaky> Never count me out, as <lostemperor> says! |
| Aug-19-07 | | percyblakeney: The <Bets will close prior to round 6> thing isn't entirely correct since round 7 already has been played in French Championship: WINNER. Vachier-Lagrave, Sokolov and Tkachiev seem to share first with 5/7 according to
http://www.europe-echecs.com/articl... and the live transmission one can find via the link at the bottom. |
| Aug-22-07 | | brankat: Thanks to "Pick 3", in last three rounds of the Staunton I went from $17 to $2,800 :-) |

 | | Annie K.: What's the payoff policy in case of shared first place in the French Championship? |
| Aug-22-07 | | chessmoron: <chessbookie> Create a betting for: http://docs.google.com/View?docid=d... If chessgames.com administrator were quick to make a page for China-Russia games not just waiting and waiting for 2 days and going, we could have bet on the team winner and the men individual winner and women individual winner. But no the administrators keeps on lagging and lagging. It starts at 5 am EST! |
| Aug-23-07 | | technical draw: wow! I won 15 chessbucks! How did that happen? |
Aug-23-07
 | | WannaBe: <Sneaky> is in first with a bit over 10K?? Cheat!! I want a recount! =) |
| Aug-23-07 | | technical draw: <Wannabe> See the movie "The Color of Money" and you can see how sneaky and I have taken control of this game. |

 | | WannaBe: <technical draw> I like 'The Cooler' better. :-) |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Annie K.: What's the payoff policy in case of shared first place in the French Championship?> All players who share first place will be regarded as winners for purposes of payoffs; i.e., if we have to make multiple payoffs, we will. Often, we specify this explicitly with verbage such as "In the case of a tie for first place, the tiebreak protocol of the tournament will be disregarded and all tickets for players tied for first will pay off." This is especially used for events which distinguish between first and second place using obscure tiebreak measures like the Sonneborn-Berger system. It would be rather unfair to lose a bet based on such technicalities, and we know that, so we try to eliminate the need for it in our bet description. If you do NOT see this verbage, this means that we will recognize whatever protocol the tournament uses. I'm honestly not sure if France allows for co-champions or has a playoff match to determine a solitary champion, but whatever they do, we'll stand behind it for purposes of payoffs. I hope that's clear. |

 | | Annie K.: <Chessgames Bookie> Thanks. |
| Aug-24-07 | | technical draw: Wow. TIMER is in the top 10. He used to be my buddy at the bottom but apparently the lure of easy money got to him. |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: << End of the Summer Leg >> The Summer Leg will end on either September 10th or September 11th depending on bet scheduling. That will give us a few days to place wagers on Mexico as the first event of the Fall leg. Just to remind everybody how this works: the top 10 places will qualify for the championship leg which takes place in the winter. Qualification means that you start the leg with an extra $10,000. Note that while it's possible to win the championship without qualifying, it's a highly unlikely. The very top place each leg traditionally has received some sort of a treat, typically a year's premium membership. Good luck to everybody! |

| Aug-31-07 | | Hot Logic: Darn! My strategy of amassing a fortune and betting it all on Kramnik has been foiled :( Now I'll have to be satisfied betting my 200 with the other plebs ;p |
| Aug-31-07 | | malthrope: <Hot Logic: Darn! My strategy of amassing a fortune and betting it all on Kramnik has been foiled :( [...]> I know this story well - be there done that! ~lol~ ;-) Made one bad bet in the Staunton Memorial and have been working my way back up ever since... Got lucky today with a few well placed assorted bets in the NH tourney Round #9 and this should bring me up to $4,639 with $1,200 in pending bets still yet be counted (NH Individual, NH Team, China-UK and the 'Navara-Short' match)... So long as the Bookie updates at the usual time (12 AM EDT so that the Loanshark can collect his juice) all should be OK. 'Good Luck' to everyone in the final NH Chess Tournament round #10 (both the postive and the negative) and whatever else Chessgames Bookie can throw at us! :-) - Mal |

| Sep-03-07 | | Karpova: Why aren't we able to bet on GMJT's sixth move? |
Sep-03-07
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Karpova> Opening Explorer showed 6...d6 was played 96% of the time, so I didn't feel that betting on that move would be competitive enough. |
| Sep-04-07 | | malthrope: <<Chessgames Bookie: <Karpova> Opening Explorer showed 6...d6 was played 96% of the time...>> Darn there is no 'free lunch' on Chessgames Bookie today! ;-) |
| Sep-06-07 | | Hot Logic: Man, now that I know the round is ending my motivation to make good bets has totally disappeared. Maybe if sneaky wasn't worth 3.5k more than I am... |
| Sep-06-07 | | percyblakeney: <Hot Logic> We just put 2500 each on some game where the bets are even the last day :-) |
| Sep-06-07 | | percyblakeney: Seriously, I won't make any big last day bets, but since I'm already in the final it has been itching a bit in the betting finger the last days... |
Sep-06-07
 | | Sneaky: My efforts to pad a little extra "insurance" on top of my 10,000 have only succeeded in shedding a few bucks to set me under the 10K mark. Oh well, I still think I'm good to win this leg, unless somebody makes a gigantic desparation bet at the last minute and wins it. |
| Sep-06-07 | | Hot Logic: Well done and congrats to you percyblakeney and especially to you Sneaky :) I'm fairly satisfied for how I've done for my first time with chessbookie. It's been an interesting learning experience. |
