   Jan-06-19 G McCarthy vs M Kennefick, 1977 (replies)

Domdaniel: Maurice Kennefick died over the new year, 2018-2019. RIP. It was many years since I spoke to him. He gave up chess, I reckon, towards the end of the 80s, though even after that he was sometimes lured out for club games. I still regard this game, even after so many years, as the ...

   Jan-06-19 Maurice Kennefick (replies)

Domdaniel: Kennefick died over the 2018-19 New Year. Formerly one of the strongest players in Ireland, he was the first winner of the Mulcahy tournament, held in honour of E.N. Mulcahy, a former Irish champion who died in a plane crash. I played Kennefick just once, and had a freakish win, ...

Domdaniel: <NBZ> -- Thanks, NBZ. Enjoy your chortle. Apropos nothing in particular, did you know that the word 'chortle' was coined by Lewis Carroll, author of 'Alice in Wonderland'? I once edited a magazine called Alice, so I can claim a connection. 'Chortle' requires the jamming ...

   Jan-04-19 G Neave vs B Sadiku, 2013 (replies)

Domdaniel: Moral: if you haven't encountered it before, take it seriously. Remember Miles beating Karpov with 1...a6 at Skara. Many so-called 'irregular' openings are quite playable.

   Dec-30-18 Robert Enders vs S H Langer, 1968

Domdaniel: <HMM> - Heh, well, yes. I also remembered that Chuck Berry had a hit with 'My Ding-a-ling' in the 1970s. I'm not sure which is saddest -- that the author of Johnny B. Goode and Memphis Tennessee and Teenage Wedding - among other short masterpieces - should sink to such ...

BTW, did you know that Persians used to use <Chess Boards> as <Abacussses>?

Jun-07-07  Ragh: <BTW, did you know that Persians used to use <Chess Boards> as <Abacussses>?> No. How can chess pieces on chess boards possibly calculate math problems?

I read the story behind your Erewhon - Erehwon on wiki. Its a common misspelling as it quotes here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erehwon

Domdaniel: Note that anyone else would have told you to place bets on drawn games in today's second-round candidates games. Or even made a gross prediction and worldly profit myself.

But not me. I merely dropped a strong hint about what good things draws were, and let you make your own conclusions.

I don't like those cults where they spoonfeed the tadpoles.

jessicafischerqueen: <dom> check out the <second link> in my forum to the <Braniac show>.

He blows up a car, and says "why this car? Because it's old, wrecked, and, most of all, it's <French>"

HAHAHAHAHAHA

That guy kills me. Do they show the <Braniac> guy on Irish TV?

the link to where <Richard> blows up the <French> car is right below the other one a few pages back in my forum.

I love him!!

A. Vive la France!!

B. Wasn't that YOU posting earlier about 'darkies'? I could be mistaken... things a little hazy lately.

Hey we're overdue for a chat, mate, it you catch my drift!!

jessicafischerqueen: OOh and I don't know if you caught it but <Bill> made what could be the "Mother of all Typos" the other day.

I'm gonna put it in my <fave kibbutz> section but I gotta ask him first.

That's how funny it is!!

Jun-07-07  whiteshark: Well, it's a new interpretation of an old froggy story... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrzV...

Funnily enough, they can. You just need to translate one symbolism into another. For that matter, how do a heap of ones and zeroes in an electronic circuit calculate chess moves?

And don't get me started on how meat manages to play chess. Even GM meat.

Domdaniel: <Erewhon> The reversal problem is solved if you create a special letter for the sound 'wh'. Every alphabet should have one.

Strangely, old English spelled many words with 'hw' for 'wh' -- 'hwat' and 'hwere' for what and where.

The Scots preferred 'quh' -- quhat and quhere. Takes all qushorts.

Domdaniel: <Jess> Overdue? Sure, cool. Sounds like the rest of my life. Is a chat something like an intervention? Won't work, you know. I'm flame-retardant.

Or maybe they said 'a flaming retard'. One of them, anyhow.

Domdaniel: <Jess> Yeah, Brainiac's on cable here. They must know their geek audience cos it pops up between endless reruns of Stargate.

It has a different presenter now, Vic Reeves. Wackier, more spoof-mad-scientist, much less decorative than the other guy.

They still blow things up a lot though.

Richard: "Yes, the white <e> and <d> pawns--the Dog's Nuts of the Chessboard."

  jessicafischerqueen: <intervention>?

No, no, you've not been paying attention? The reverse has actually happened. Instead of "curing" you, I've become a <science fiction> fan and started doing <insane calculations>.

Only difference, really, is that my "calculations," as already pointed out, are in fact incorrect.

Domdaniel: <whiteshark> I only just got around to watching your last Youtube link ... wow. Froschmann-in-Himmel!

Kiss That Frog ... from *Vancouver* Film School? Might it just possibly maybe be inspired by the adventures of Our Friend Who Shall Remain Nameless?

Oh, sod it, she reads everything anyway. Do you think the animators used Jess as a model? For the Princess, that is, not the Frog.

Incidentally, both frogs and Vancouverians are noted for their psychic radar. They stop breeding and turn to hedonism, art and chess when the planet is doomed and there's no point in continuing the species...

  Domdaniel: <Jess> -- <no, you've not been paying attention? >

Of course I haven't. I prefer it when Attention pays *me*. Seems a more equitable transaction, somehow.

Jun-08-07  whiteshark: <Dom> some thoughts, and more questions...

- I wasn't sure, if I should post <the link>. There are so many young folks on this page that could be inflicted by some scenes (the green lips)...

- Do they use a <stunt-double> in the kissing scene ??

- Is there a permanent online connection JFQ to <Vancouver Film School> ?? - Giggle Earthing might verify it, but it isn't sure.

- There must be a <2nd life of JFQ> outside ouf cg.com (maybe a 3rd one - the dark side...don't imagine).. any hints ??

- Not every princess will become a queen - the opposite is right.

- Does 'the nameless' exist ? If Wittgenstein is right, the answer is "no" (The world is everything that is the case.)

- Is 'the nameless, that <reads everything anyway>' covered by the Tractatus ?

Questions all over... We need some firsthand answers, immediately, o'wise we sink into madness...

the upcoming insane whiteshark

  Domdaniel: <whiteshark> I don't know.

There, I said it.

But Wittgenstein didn't know either.

Does the Nameless exist? Were there radio waves before Hertz? Immortal Zugzwang games before Nimzowitsch?

Umm... maybe, yes, no.

Jun-08-07  Ragh: SP Alert!!
Could User: domdaniel be a reincarnation of the long lost friend User: Offield. Sorry to break the news this way.

An upcoming net sleuth.

jessicafischerqueen: <Whiteshark> I think you might be mixing up <The Gospel According to Luke> and the <Tractatus> there.

<Witty> prop. one: "The <world> is all that is the case."

It's not a study of semantics, nor does it argue he notion that words create in some <immanent> or <Metaphysical> sense.

But <Luke> sure does.

I am not <Nameless>, by the way.

My name happens to be <Legion>. Glad to meet you. Didn't you guess my name?

Heh

  jessicafischerqueen: <Rah!>

Intriguing theory, but I don' think so.

<Dom> does not live near a field, nor is he in the habit of frequenting the <Offy>, or <Off-Licence> (place where you drink Ale Wassail etc).

But keep digging!! <Dom> does have a fine tournament game in the <CG.com database>, but you might need a map from him to find it.

jessicafischerqueen: Well I guess I'll have to watch that <Frog> video, if only because this is FROGSPAWN.

I must say, the <Frogger> quotient has been beefed up lately!

Bon Homme, Vivant, and Plume de ta tante!!
