Mar-06-12 | | frogbert: ocf, you seem to ignore the chronology. what's action and what's reaction. leaving to the admins to "police" the site instead of organizing a lynch mob would've earned the doc fewer "enemies". openly advertizing who the bad apples are (in his opinion) - which constitutes obvious *personal* attacks - and claims that "the old guard will watch your back and take care of the bullies", is more than asking for it. regarding getting into someone's head: of course, that's what every successful <stalker> does to his victims - it's the long term effect of mounting psychological pressure, for instance by unwanted, intrusive presence in someone's online life. (i want him out of mine!) a physician with expertise in psychology is presumedly a dangerously skilled player of "mind games" (his own term), but i don't think neither his guild nor the law would approve of this specific application of his knowledge. ocf, go to http://encyclopedia.thefreedictiona... and read and ponder what it says. "store" it for future reference. note for yourself that i generally have no interest in knowing what the master stalker and his apprentice are up to - with a very few temporary exceptions i've had both on my ignore list for the best part of the past 3 years. their apparent interest for what i do around here, however, has been obsessive and relentless. the doc seemingly does searches of user: frogbert on a regular basis, blurting excerpts from his "findings" often enough to create an experience of constant surveillance. do you think that's something to brag about? it's very much borderline to a criminal act (see the reference above and us legislation on the subject), and it's certainly abuse of his professional knowledge. and his actions are very much <intended to cause harm>, cf the snippet that bureau cited in the cafe. cg.com's issue by issue policy of handling incidents has created a loophole for the kind of resilient drop by drop torture (consider physical water drop torture...) that's been unfolding here. weaker persons may have cracked and taken permanent damage for much less. so, why is anyone bragging about their ability to harm other people? i think it reeks of desperation. it's not a good sign. |

Mar-06-12 | | Nemesistic: <quantum.halfconscious> Why don't you try option 4 and just piss off, miserable little man.. Iv'e been reading your posts this last week and feel i just had to tell you that.:D |
Mar-06-12
 | | Domdaniel: <quant> Irritated, eh? Be a good little humeme and make more of an effort not to be. You barely impinge on my consciousness at all. But then I'm generally able to filter and control what does, and you're really not sufficiently interesting. |
Mar-06-12
 | | Domdaniel: We grow bored with 'individuals' and 'personalities' who insist on 'having opinions' and 'expressing them'. Some even believe in the 'right' to do so. Balls (Her Majesty's Shadow Chancellor, innit?). We now return to abstraction where we belong. You can't have a feud with a complex number. Or, if you can, your neuroses are sufficiently innaresting to be worth a peek. |

 | | Domdaniel: <A Frognostication> Chess players are the new avant-gardeners, the leading edge of the Now. This is due to the influence of analysis engines, much as we may deplore them in other ways. Yes, they make it easier – and for some people more tempting and profitable – to cheat in competitive play. Yes, they allow weak players to scorn and criticize moves made by leading grandmasters, often without having the foggiest idea why a move is ‘wrong’ other than ‘Frybker says…’ But think about the wider context. In a few years – assuming ‘our’ civilization survives (‘our’ does not connote ownership, btw … at least our planet has yet to acknowledge my share of the title deeds) – such expert systems will be ubiquitous. I don’t mean Wikipedia or similar filtered collections of human knowledge: but machines that can out-think expert humans in circumscribed areas. How will we react when our phones contain an entity which can think better than Archimedes, Einstein, Newton or Von Neumann? That can extrapolate trends more precisely than McLuhan, Gibson or Toffler? That can philosophize more pertinently than Quine, Foucault, Rorty, and Descartes? I’m just reading names off my book ‘shelves’ – actually piles – here. There are other names. There may even be some I haven’t read. What will we do with a *real* Turing Machine? A Korzybski Machine? A Burroughs Machine, with a hole in its electric arm for opiated data? A Zizek Module with a Baudrillard filter and Platonic boosters? An invisible Pynchon machine? You are the wave of the future, O my droogs and Zapkinder. Work your engines now, before they start working you. We may not have long: Fritz 13 is said to have a copy of Das Kapital in its openings book... |
Mar-06-12 | | frogbert: <What will we do with a *real* Turing Machine?> not much, i'd reckon. but if it would come in red, it would guarantee a lot of red tape. |
Mar-06-12 | | quantum.conscious: <Domdaniel: <quant> Irritated, eh? Be a good little humeme and make more of an effort not to be.
You barely impinge on my consciousness at all. But then I'm generally able to filter and control what does
>
absolutely. everyone can learn to be be as evolved as you are over the time by putting in some efforts consistently. isn't it? :) |
Mar-06-12
 | | Domdaniel: Yep. Centuries, at least.
But individuals don't 'evolve', you know. Just species. An individual may 'grow' in various ways, but that's different. |
Mar-06-12 | | quantum.conscious: <Domdaniel:
But individuals don't 'evolve', you know. Just species. > that depends on what theory you believe in - 'random evolution' or 'conscious evolution'. neuroscientist Rudy Tanzi says that conscious evolution theory can not be ruled out. and thoughts do change biology (DNA) says Rudy Tanzy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKKa... |
Mar-06-12
 | | Domdaniel: <quant> If it's conscious, it isn't evolution. Your, uh, argument stretches words to breaking point. This kind of thing happens all the time. Some word with an exact scientific meaning (quantum, relativity, etc) is picked up and thrown around by people who don't even know they're being metaphoric. Are they peer-reviewing youtube already?
Might be a good idea if you took Nemesistic's advice. It was very conscious advice, very highly evolved. This is where I get off. As it were. |
Mar-06-12 | | quantum.conscious: <Might be a good idea if you took Nemesistic's advice.> yes, it would be a good idea if we stay out of each other's way (because i would not like to be disrespectful to you if i find you talking to me in a know-all way again especially about the things i believe you don't know much about) - such a conscious decision would be very nice. good bye |
Mar-07-12 | | frogbert: <A Burroughs Machine> if they made a good burritos machine, i'd buy it. |
Mar-08-12
 | | Domdaniel: Did I *say* I was a venture capitalist? Did I? Then why do I get pestered by startups? Oh, right. Upstarts. |
Mar-08-12 | | Nemesistic: Hey <Dom>, if you have the time i posted a really good miniature at <FSR>'s forum that i played against Shredder on a 60 min setting, that i'd like you to take a look at?? All comments, good or bad, would be appreciated.. It's the best iv'e played in a few years, so i'd like all higher rated players than myself who like a Kings Gambit to take a look.. I know you're a "French man" at heart, minus the bike, stripey jumper, necklace of garlic cloves, and phlegm attacks, but i still think you'll enjoy the game..;) |
Mar-08-12
 | | Domdaniel: <Nem> Dammit, I thought we'd banished all the phlegms to Belgium ... I'll be happy to have a gander. |
Mar-08-12 | | Nemesistic: Thank you <Dom>, and please please feel free to critique away, and show me where i could have done better etc..etc.. I'm not the LIFE Master so i can take any criticism thrown my way! |
Mar-09-12 | | frogbert: i occasionally throw out 1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Bc4 in blitz games (even have 2 classical games with it as white), but haven't seen 3... Qg5!? before. not everyone checks on h4, though - mostly because they're not familiar with the line and don't realize that white has to play Kf1 after the check. but "all higher rated players than myself" appeared to be a slight exaggeration, it seems. innaresting, that. |
Mar-09-12 | | Nemesistic: Iv'e no idea what you mean by that, and i openly admit im crap so you've lost me there frogbert!! Iv'e told you i wont argue with a member of the womens weekly club, think of tpstar and "the site", frogbert lol.. See frogbert, i admit im not intelligent like Dom and others here.. In fact most of my posts begin with...."Im no expert on this, but...." and end with the classic "Lol".. But im not thick either, there is a difference... If you have anything at all to say about that 1 game then spit it out, otherwise it'll lose its innarest!! You're defo in Goldsby and tpstar's bracket lol |
Mar-09-12 | | frogbert: nemesistic, i appreciate and value honesty and sincerity very much. to which degree is that something you and i have in common? note, it's a sincere question, inviting reflection. |
Mar-10-12 | | Nemesistic: Then forgive me, but i don't understand the question!! |
Mar-11-12 | | frogbert: neme, i would think that understanding this question would be much easier than understanding me and what i am. still you apparently claim to do the latter and not the former. peculiar. anyway, it's not very important - to me. have a nice sunday and enjoy chess. i'm starting a team game (2h/40 moves, 1h rest) in a little more than an hour - wish me luck. :o) |
Mar-11-12
 | | Domdaniel: < i'm starting a team game (2h/40 moves, 1h rest) in a little more than an hour - wish me luck. :o)> Good luck!
I am also playing a coupla games today. Wish me ... a brilliant combination or two. If wishing works, why not aim high? |
Mar-11-12 | | achieve: Wishing only works if it gives you confidence, an extra supply, to be the best you can be, smell the opportunity when presented, executing with style and precision... That magical and elusive little extra that kicks in at the exact right time. I could go on and on about predictive programming, sufficient rest, coffee, medication, - a combination may be ideal - but I'd like to keep this in the realm of the supernatural, which is a no-no in certain circles. Well then...
Give the old lamp a good rub, Alladin old cock, let it shine! - and it will all come true. Best wishes to my old nemesis frogbert as well, of course. And <how> could <I> forget the authentic, really real, smile. ;-) |
Mar-11-12 | | hms123: <Dom> <frogbert> Play well. <niels> Good thoughts from you...and to you. |
Mar-11-12 | | brankat: Best of luck to both of You guys! |
