jessicafischerqueen: <chancho> yes, I understand that.

It's one of the reasons I appreciate your cooperation in this experiment. WWithout your help this experiment has no chance to succeed.

Ok it probably doesn't anyway, but it's been a wonderful 24 hours.

And think about it-

There are only three people pushing the idea that the book is genuine.

Nobody else at this website thinks it is genuine.

Some are "on the fence" like <Pinned Piece> or <acrice>, but that's always the case in a controversy.

I think the danger of people getting suckered in to buying a book that may be a fake is very low, in terms of the people who visit the <Fischer page> at this website.

So I don't see a downside to trying out this experiment?

<Mr. Trice, Mr. Joshka, and IM Day> are not spamming the <Fischer thread>.

The angry responses to their posts causes a "blizzard effect" that discourages anyone who wants to post something about <Bobby's> chess on the thread.

Think of it-= Say somebody works an hour or so on a really informative, analytic post about Bobby's chess.

Then they post it on the <Fischer page>.

Then in fifteen minutes it's already gone because of 79 angry posts that have been dropped after it.

I just want a place for <Fischer fans> to gather and talk about <Bobby's> chess.

Apr-12-09  PinnedPiece: I've quit posting M61MG nonsense on the Fishcer page and repent of having ever done so. . :-}

  jessicafischerqueen: <chancho>

The ONLY WAY it can work is this:

When <Mr. Trice/Joshka/IM Day> start posting about the book again- and they will-

Nobody responds-- at least not on the <Fischer page>.

That's the only way it can work.

"Advertising" is harmless if its ignored.

Mark me well- the CONTROVERSY only serves the purposes of those who want to sell the book.

And the side effect is that it ABSOLUTELY RUINS the <Bobby Fischer> player page for the rest of us.

You've all had your say on this matter- many times over.

You don't need to put someone on "Ignore" to ingnore them.

If we all stop talking about the book on <Bobby's page>, then the posts you object to are rendered harmless.

Plus we can talk about it in this forum if we want.

Let's face it. Think about the membership at this website.

Do you think any of them would actually buy the book?

And think of a new member who visits the <Fischer> page, accurately judges it to be a DISGRACE, and then joins a different website.

I first came to this site, registered, and eventually became a Premium member because I was looking for <Bobby Fischer> games and INTELLIGENT DISCUSSIONS about <Bobby Fischer>.

I think we owe it to the whole website to try to make this experiment work.

  jessicafischerqueen: Wow!

Is it a good bar?

Do people ask you to be their psychiatrist?

Is it a <Hooters>?

My body wakes me up at 7:00 AM every single morning even if I went to bed at 6:59.

Stupid work.

I can't ever sleep in again.

"Ken gets up every morning at 3:00 AM, and then goes back to sleep. Because it's far too early to get up"

--Monty Python

Apr-13-09  blacksburg: <Do people ask you to be their psychiatrist?>

they don't even ask. they just start spilling their guts.

i had a girl tonight tell me about how she was traumatized in childhood when her brothers told her that girls are supposed to pee standing up.

she still tries to do it now when she is drunk, and has an irrational fear that other girls secretly can do this, but don't talk to her about it because they pity her.

people are CRAZY.

Stonehenge: Right! I had to get up in the morning, at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill and pay mill-owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our dad would kill us and dance about on our graves, singing Hallelujiah!

chancho: I was watching something about the human clock and how it works in a 24 hour cycle. How eating at night can be detrimental to one's health. How old people's clock starts malfunctioning as they age, and how it can lead to some of them getting Alzheimer's, etc. Very interesting. The only problem: it was being televised late at night. Damn!
Apr-13-09  blacksburg: <I was watching something about the human clock and how it works in a 24 hour cycle. How eating at night can be detrimental to one's health.>

ok, what does that mean to someone that gets off work at 4 AM, eats dinner at 5 AM, eats breakfast at 8 PM, sleeps noon-7 PM? i am so screwed up. :(

<how it can lead to some of them getting Alzheimer's>

it's a good thing i play chess, then.

======Fischer's Desire to Rewrite M60MG ?========

According to Winter:

Point in support of theory that Fischer meant to rewrite M60MG:

"Concerning Nunn’s point that the original descriptive edition had many typographical errors (particularly in the moves), CHESS quoted Fischer’s acknowledgement that there had been ‘millions’ of typos, as well as his comment, <‘I don’t need them [i.e. Batsford] to correct anything for me, even with the help of computers. <Of course the book has mistakes, but I can correct them myself.>> They changed my things on purpose …’ CHESS added that Fischer had taken great care with the book’s analysis."

from http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/...

.

Apr-13-09  Open Defence: I heard there was a Gothic Chess game between ALekhine and Fischer ? or was that between Mrs Alekhine and JessicaFischerQueen ?

eitherway what is Gothic chess ? do each of the opponents wear heavy eye liner and take turns at being miserable?

Apr-13-09  Mrs. Alekhine: <Pinned Piece>

That's a great article, obviously- <Edgar Winter> is as good as it gets for reliable chess reporting, IMO.

However, all the article proves is that <Bobby> was furious with Battsford in 1999 for making changes to <My 60 Memorable Games>.

So this information tells us that <Bobby> didn't like these "unauthorized changes," although of course they were authorized by copyright since <Faber and Faber> had held the rights to the book.

This doesn't mean that <Bobby> participated in <My 61 Memorable Games>.

All I'm saying is that there is no evidence in this <Winter> article to suggest this.

BTW did you know <Edgar Winter> is also an "old school" Blues artist?

Apr-13-09  Mrs. Alekhine: <was that between Mrs Alekhine and JessicaFischerQueen ?>

Incorrect! We don't play "chess" unless the board has the "right" number of squares.

If a 60 square board was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for us.

Apr-13-09

chancho: I don't see anything in what <Pinned piece> posted that would suggest Fischer wanted to correct his book and change it to Algebraic. Wait, Fischer hated Algebraic notation! Algebraic was known even before Bobby was born, so he would have been familiar with it. But when you see his scoresheets, it's in descriptive notation. Would Fischer have changed notation for another book? I doubt it.
Apr-13-09  MageOfMaple: <Mrs. Alekhine: If a 60 square board was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for us.>

Now this sounds like an interesting topic for discussion!

  jessicafischerqueen: Hi <MageOfMaple>!

Actually I stole that joke from a <probably apocryphal> story that some kid's mother in the American south had this to say about America becoming a "bilingual country":

"If speaking English was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for my kids."

I suspect this is apocryphal because it sounds "too perfect to be true".

But I don't know. I thought it was funny.
