Uncovering the Truth About M61MG

Apr-13-09  Pyke: Hi <Jess>,

first of all thank you for opening your forum for the dreadfull <61...> discussion.

Since you did the Fischer page took a very turn to the better. One hardly recognizes it anymore - which is actually a good thing.

Pyke

P.S.: You might consider advertising it on the Lawrence Day forum, too. Though this would add some fuel to the fire ...

Apr-13-09  Pyke: <chancho: IMDay should just delete the beejeezus out of his page.>

You're right of course <Chancho>, but considering IM Day's posts this is - sadly - highly unlikely.

Respectfully, I strongly disagree.

Any forum that is not <Bobby's> player page is a GREAT PLACE to post any thoughts about <My 61 Memorable Games>.

The purpose of this experiment is to free up <Bobby's> page for people who want to talk about <Bobby's chess>.

PS Hi <Pyke>!!

Good to see you!

Apr-13-09  PinnedPiece: <Pyke: Since you did the Fischer page took a very turn to the better. One hardly recognizes it anymore - which is actually a good thing.>

Actually, barring an arrest or another lawsuit or something equally attention-getting, the discussion had pretty much wound down because of the widespread belief that the issue has been decided.

Expect to see Trice-sniping on the Fischer page, with anyone offering rebuttal to be drowned out by 5-10 "sock puppet sighted" posts....but you will probably need to bring <Joshka> on board with the new policy here.

Thanks to <CG.com's> official endorsement of this current project, I am more optimistic than I was yesterday.

Looking at the five most recent pages on <Bobby's> game page I think it's obvious to all- most importantly, to the Administrators-- that there were a great number of <CG.com> members eager to discuss Bobby's chess, who did not bother trying to do that when the whole page was FLAMING.

So...

I have a "Plan B" lined up in case of any <sockpuppet spam outbreaks> on Bobby's Page.

I don't know if it would work, but if necessary, I'm certainly going to try.

BTW I really appreciate your personal support of the present experiment.

  jessicafischerqueen: <Gentlemen>

I have visited <IM Day's> player page and I changed my mind. You guys are correct.

So I extended an inivitation there to come over here any time they want to discuss "The Book."

Apr-13-09  parisattack: My ONLY question regarding the 61 Games book: Is it available for purchase? If so, where and $$$? If not, 'where's the beef' and what's the point of further discussion?

Just my two cents and thats all I have to spend, really.

Thanks < jessicafischerqueen> In a single stroke you have revitalized the Bobby Fischer board!!!

  jessicafischerqueen: <Paris Attack>

Thank you= but for this to work longer than a day or so, it is imperative that everyone cooperates.

That is, not respond to any <61 games> posts on <Bobby's> Player Page.

I will be copying and re-posting any <61 games> material here=

But for this to work, the <CG.com> members who really want to discuss <Bobby's> chess and life on his player page will have to demonstrate that desire with ACTIONS.

Mainly, not discussing "the book" there any more.

jessicafischerqueen: <Paris Attack> I believe the book can only be purchased on <E Bay>.

It is most certainly not being sold in bookstores, or by <Amazon>.

However, I'm not an authority on this topic.

Apr-13-09  parisattack: As long as you have the CG Admin blessing you should post your notice to both the Day and Fischer boards reasonably often for a spell...

You look a tad young to be Mrs Alekhine #4 or #5. ;);)

  jessicafischerqueen: <chancho>

So you mean that the book actually cannot be bought at the present moment?

????

Doesn't this confirm <Paris Attack's> point that it is absurd to be discussing a book that cannot be purchased?

Apr-13-09  parisattack: <jessicafischerqueen: You look ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS> I am the famous French chess philosopher, Descartes, who said, 'I think, therefore I move.'

<chancho: It's nowhere on eBay.

http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=my...

I heard it was removed from Craiglist? I asked Trice a couple of times and no response. :) If Ed Labate can't get them I suspect no one can.

Thee are a few pictures of it floating around the Internet...

chancho: Yes <Jess>, I agree. It is absurd. But two of the three amigos keep bringing it up. I know IMDay got his when <Joshka> hooked him up. And only three people are known to have it: <hackmate> his loyal sidekick Tattoo, and IMDay. If anyone wants to get that book, I imagine they have to go thru a sort of shady process to get it. And the very idea of wasting hundreds of dollars for a book of dubious authenticity. Craaaazy!
Apr-13-09  parisattack: The 'book' appears to have good production values; I doubt someone printed 10 copies of it...although that is theoretically possible on a site such as lulu.com.

GM Keene requested a review copy. One would think if the owner was interested in selling copies a review by GM Keene would be a big plus?

I'd hate to pay $300 for a copy then see eBay flooded with them for $25!

jessicafischerqueen: <chancho> thanks in large measure to the thorough, and painstaking, detective work conducted by you and <Edward Labate>, I think it's quite clear by now that only <Ed Trice> socks and <Joshka> are wanting to push the book.

And they are the only ones who keep bringing it up.

To defeat them from Spamming the <Fischer page> all that is necessary is for none of us ever to respond to them on that page.

I will be copying and re-posting all <61>-related posts over here anyways, and all are free to debate those posts here.

Including <hackmate> and <Joshka>.

I think they both must already have realized that the vast majority of <CG.com members> do not want this discussion on the <Fischer page> any longer.

And if we really don't want it there, we have the collective power to keep it off there- simply by refraining to discuss it there.

Simply by not answering anybody at the <Fischer page>

We can all answer them here.

This forum is paid up for <Two Years>, although I hope the necessity for its current use fades long before then.

Ok then!

Apr-13-09  PinnedPiece: Google search of "Hong Kong" and "My 61 Memorable Games" turns up nothing.

SO much for the Poll voter who claimed published hong kong freely.

  jessicafischerqueen: Check this out-

Very good news, IMO-

Maybe a "new age" is dawning at our beloved website, with the Administrators doing a good job on the important <Player pages>-

Particularly the <Carlsen> and <Fischer> threads, which have, frankly, been rendered DISGRACEFUL for the past two years due to constant, and utterly pointless, FLAMING.

This from the <Carlsen page> yesterday

<<chessgames.com: Several messages were deleted from this thread for being off-topic bickering. Please stick to the subject of Magnus Carlsen.>

Apr-14-09  blacksburg: at least the Fischer page was entertaining at times, some of the idiocy there made me chuckle a few times. but the Carlsen page...is like this - <my #@%! is bigger than yours> <no MY @#^! is bigger than YOURS> <no MINE> <nuh-uh> <YES-HUH> <you're a doodoo face> <oh yeah, you're a POOPOO HEAD>
Apr-14-09

  jessicafischerqueen: <blacksburg>

heh..

I hear you, but we can have a flame war here about <61> for the rest of our lives if we want.

Point is that I joined this web site to learn more about <Bobby Fischer> and his page has been a DISGRACE for the last three years and I'm making it my life's work to put a stop to it.

Even if it only lasts another five minutes.

Also, you are free to FLAME ON in my forum if you like.

I know your point was that the <Fischer flaming> was not as vitriolic as the <Carlsen flaming>--

But before it was just as bad.

In fact, a whole bunch of FLAMERS "moved over" to the <Carlsen page> from the <Fischer page>.

Apr-14-09  PinnedPiece: <jessicafischerqueen: <chancho> thanks in large measure to the thorough, and painstaking, detective work conducted by you and <Edward Labate>, I think it's quite clear by now that only <Ed Trice> socks and <Joshka> are wanting to push the book. Bear in mind that proponents of the book need a reason to stop promoting the book on the Fischer pages. Any alternate page, like this one, that is "set against" them from the get go, no quarter given, is bound to be one-sided, and unattended by the book's believers. They will continue "patronizing" the Fischer page, which will be where insults are hurled in their direction (why hurl insults into an empty room?)

Therefore, this page needs to "warmly receive" the attentions of the <Ed Trice> and M61MG defenders, so they can gather in their "sockness" to compare notes, etc. THAT is how you get the insults off of the Fischer page.

My Point? Mrs. Alekhine, my dear, your pose needs to indicate something like an air of neutrality.

Arms folded. Not hovering behind one side or the other. That sort of thing.

Of course, you should allow <JFQ> to post whatever she pleases! . .

  jessicafischerqueen: <PP> no, that's a good idea.

But I don't think they will ever come here.

I will adopt your suggestion nonetheless--

Starting NOW.

Spamming of the <Fischer page> will only stop when we- all of us- stop responding to off-topic posts there with angry responses.

IMO- the angry responses are worse than the posts that prompt them. That keeps a vicious cycle going that keeps people from posting <Chess related stuff> on <Bobby's> page.

There are five full pages of wonderful chess posts there right now.

Also, I think you were correct to note that the discussion had "played out" pretty much on its own anyways.

Such things come and go at <CG.com>

Thanks for good advice--

Starting............
