WannaBe: FIFA World Cup prediction has now been changed to this page!
Jan-09-06  EmperorAtahualpa: Great place you've got over here, <WannaBe>. :)

Say, I remember <hitman420> proposing to hold a Champions League prediction contest as well. Would you be interested in hosting that one as well?

Jan-09-06  Chopin: <Wannabe> This is going to be a great forum. I look forward to polluting it with off-topic discussions :) It's hilarious, yesterday <CG> almost kicked me out of my own forum -- but I got them back, by deleting one of their posts.
Jan-09-06  EmperorAtahualpa: Oops, I mean <hitman84> of course. :)

WannaBe: <EmperorAtahualpa> Not too interested in hosting/holding Championships League prediction.

<Chopin> off-topic discussions... Um, yes...

Jan-09-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <Not too interested in hosting/holding Championships League prediction.>

<WannaBe> Yes you're probably right, Champions League is a European event after all, whereas World Cup is obviously global. Better for this site.

Jan-09-06  brankat: Re.: World Cup prediction.
May be a bit too early, but I will venture a guess. Order of favourites, IMO:

1. Germany
2. England
3. Brasil

Upset possibilities:
1. Holland
2. Spain

WannaBe: <brankat> Sorry, should have copied over more from the P Ball page.

For the first phase, I am looking for the 16 teams (2 from each group) that makes it to elimination round.

If it is not too much trouble, visit the P Ball page and look at the example(s) that have been posted, I think they start around page 3 or 4. Thanks!

WannaBe: <cu8sfan> Silly, silly me. Apologies again.
Jan-09-06  brankat: Here is my revised prediction list:

Jan-09-06  brankat: Btw, is P. Ball actually Peter Ball, a former English soccer player? The Right Winger, if I remember correctly?
Jan-09-06  JoeWms: <WannaBe> I killed my forum page by unclicking the Preference.

When I have more Fritz9 under my belt (I need a week or two) I will consider hosting a Fritz9 support forum.

The NBA forum was a ruse: I wanted to find out if the user who announced a football NFL forum (non-chess) was outside the lines in the chess forum. But I had no personal thing about the user nor his NFL focus, so I didn't name him. But I got the feeling in my reading of CG's first announcement yesterday that it was being set up to accommodate the chess-only crowd. I'll read it over again.

Ciao amigo

Jan-09-06  EmperorAtahualpa: Nice predicions, <brankat>! Almost identical to mine. Only differences: <Czech Republic> (I picked Ghana) and <Poland> (I picked Costa Rica).
Jan-09-06  brankat: Thank You, <EmperorAtahualpa> This goes to show that You know soccer (football). :)
Jan-09-06  EmperorAtahualpa: Thanks, <brankat>, I try to stay up-to-date with football as much as possible. From which part of the former Yugoslavia are you by the way? I've been in Yugoslavia many times, both before and after the war. Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia... only not Bosnia-Hercegovina and Kosovo.
Jan-10-06  hitman84: i'm following football only after 2002 hence a novice, since there are so many football buffs here i'm not able to decide who are really good so why not start a champions league prediction where you pick the final four, then two, then the champion whoever gets most of the predictions right shall be considered as the unofficial football expert(s) of this forum going into the world cup.
whatdo u think <wannabe>?

WannaBe: <hitman84> I currently am limited on time to do a championship league prediction contest, unfortunately. =(
Jan-10-06  notsodeepthought: <Wannabe> Do we have to repost all our predictions from the old P Ball page...?

WannaBe: <notsodeepthought> No. I have it all recorded. =)
Jan-11-06  Cecil Brown: Has anyone seen these?

Elo ratings for football!

Scroll down past the recent results section to find national team rankings. England are number 4. Might be useful information for the prediction contest.

Jan-11-06  me to play: Still looking for players to join <WannaBe> on the black side of a team game at my forum.
Jan-11-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <all>

Although <WannaBe>'s forum is basically for the football World Cup, I would gladly like to refer you to the P Ball page for predictions on the 2006 African Nations Cup, which starts next week already!

Jan-11-06  hitman84: after finding your final member you should choose a team name and get ready to have some "<KNIGHTMARES>"
