Jun-25-06  percyblakeney: Spain has won all their matches this far, and they have some very good players. I have a feeling this will finally be a good World Cup for Spain with a semi final spot...
Jun-25-06  Dionyseus: <WannaBe> 2...Nc6
Jun-25-06  themadhair: <WannaBe> Can you help me? I use CB light for all my analysis and annotating. Is there any way to get Rybka to run under CB light. I have Fritz8 and Shredder8 and Rybka runs fine under those but I have a penchant for CB light. I just find it better for editing games. So to my question - is it possbile to run Rybka under CB light and if so then how? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

WannaBe: <themadhair> I do not know that answer, but I'd imagine <Dionyseus> can help you out in that category.

<Dionyseus> 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4

Jun-25-06  Dionyseus: <WannaBe> 3...cxd4
Jun-25-06  Dionyseus: <themadhair> <is it possbile to run Rybka under CB light and if so then how?>

No clue, never used CB light.

Jun-25-06  Open Defence: <Wannabe> can you download Shredder 10 of the net or do you have to wait for it to ship ? the blunder check feature seems nice...
Jun-25-06  Dionyseus: <Open Defense> The blunder check feature of the Fritz/chessbase gui works with any engine as far as I know. As for Shredder, if you buy the UCI version you get a download link by email, there's no CD (unless if you specifically ask for it).
Jun-25-06  chessmoron: I'll take this, WannaBe, <OD> You have to wait for it to ship. The cheapest Shredder 10 is $47.99(US)on http://www.wholesalechess.com/chess...
Jun-25-06  chessmoron: <Dionyesus> I thought it came with a DVD-ROM.
Jun-25-06  Open Defence: <wait for it to ship> one more reason I will never use a chess engine ..lol

WannaBe: <Open Defence> I like the DVD-ROM version. =) That way, when I 'upgrade' I can give my old one away.

<suenteus po 147> has my old Shredder9, and <DrDum> has my old Fritz8. So when I upgrade to Shredder11, I'll have to find someone to give this one to.

Jun-25-06  Open Defence: <if you buy the UCI version> are UCI versions weaker/stronger/ different ? or is it just that they can work with the different GUIs ?
Jun-25-06

WannaBe: <Open Defence> I believe the strength are the same, just the GUIs are different.
Jun-25-06  Open Defence: does anyone know the Shredder 10 UCI donwload file size? i dont wanna pay for it and then find out its like 100MB or something...
Jun-25-06
Premium Chessgames Member
WannaBe: I was wrong, UCI is a little stronger, according to this site: http://www.chesscentral.com/softwar...

you can find out about download, (but I don't see anything on file size) here: http://www.shredderchess.com/downlo...

Jun-25-06  Open Defence: <Wannabe> thanks!! I went through their web site aqnd manuals and nothing about the download file size.. seems I might have to mail their support team
Jun-25-06  Open Defence: <Dionyseus> thanks!! I noticed though that the opening book for Shredder Classic was 17 MB... all in all I think the download should be around 30MB for all the stuff.. lets see what the support team says...
Jun-25-06  Dionyseus: <Open Defense> The setup exe for Shredder 10 is about 7.18mb. The book setup file is a seperate download and it's about 17mb.
Jun-25-06  Open Defence: <Dionyseus> thanks again!! as long as they are separate downloads I should have no trouble :)

WannaBe: Oh, this is so cute... Shredder likes 4. c3! (0.44) over 4. Nxd4 (0.38), I'll let it 'consider' this move for another few minutes. =)

c3 was next with 0.40 =)

Will check the game & post my next move in about 6 hours. Have to go shoot some 9-balls.

Jun-25-06  Dionyseus: <WannaBe> 4.Nxd4 Nf6

<Have to go shoot some 9-balls.>

k, have fun

Jun-25-06  capatal: <WannaBe>
If you can draw your cue ball
6...12...18 inches etc.Or stop it.
(the draw stroke is the
workhorse of pocket billiards)
and your opponent cannot
draw or stop with such precision-
he will be in for a very
tough nine ball session.
Take it down WannaBe!

c3 is a good move, ya know?

Adams vs J Benjamin, 1992

this marvelous game is a good exemple.
