Jun-27-06  chessmoron: 22...Rxe4...are u sure? 22...Rxa4 is much better.
Jun-27-06  Dionyseus: <WannaBe> <You got the position wrong... My rook's on e3 (see move 20)>

Argh you're right, I used the wrong pgn file. I'll fix it.

Jun-27-06  chessmoron: <WannaBe> Are you sure the evaluation of Shredder 10 is +0.45? Interesting...+0.04 maybe.

WannaBe: <chessmoron> pretty sure, but I don't know how/the detail of Shredder's eval algorithm.

Jun-27-06  larrewl: Although I picked The Netherlands and Spain to lose in the 1/4 finals, I can't say I'm surprised about the loses to Portugal and France, two very good teams. I would not bet on either winning the next game. :)

Alright, I've got 2 equal position, so I'm gonna pick the 'more interesting' line here. (Human intervention...)

Shredder gave 25. Kh1 and 25. f6+ equal weight. So.... I'm gonna decide on:

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 d6 6. Bb5 Bd7 7. 0-0 g6 8. Nd5 Bg7 9. Nxf6+ Bxf6 10. Be3 0-0 11. c3 Nxd4 12. Bxd7 Qxd7 13. Bxd4 Bxd4 14. Qxd4 Qb5 15. a4 Qb3 16. Rfe1 Rfc8 17. Qd2 Rc5 18. Re3 Rd8 19. Rh3 h5 20.Re3 Rdc8 21. f4 Rc4 22.f5 Rxa4 23.Rf1 Kg7 24. e5 Qb6 25. f6+

Why f6 instead of Kh1?! I am going back to the old chess saying, I'm playing white, I've got to be aggressive... and what does Kh1 do anyway??? =)

Jun-28-06  Dionyseus: <WannaBe> 25.f6+ exf6

if 26.exf6+ then Kh7

Jun-28-06  brankat: Btw, no <me to draw> this time around!
Jun-28-06  chessmoron: Oh, it will be a draw again as usual I suspect.
Jun-28-06  Dionyseus: <Oh, it will be a draw again as usual I suspect>

The eval of -.60 was due to Rybka thinking the rook was on D3 instead of E3 on moves 21 and 22. Needless to say Rybka is nowhere near as happy as it was when it thought the rook was on D3. I however think Rybka will be able to draw this game.

Jun-28-06  monad: <Wannebe> Junior 9 puts you at 1/2 pawn up on RV after your move 15.

It would have deviated from the Rybka line on several important junctions. Such as:

5....Bc5 rather than 5.....Nxe4. Let me know if you are interested in the line.

Important is:

8....Qa5 rather than Rybka's Qh5, because now White cannot continue 10.Bg5, but has to modify with 10.Bd2 first, losing a tempo at least.

Let me know if you want me to stop (interfering) analyzing with the Junior 9 engine.

WannaBe: <monad> Oh gosh no. Analyze and share all the info you wish. That's one of the reason we're doing these games. (Or at least one of the reason I am.)

Is to see how different engines react/eval different positions.

Jun-28-06  Chopin: <Open Defence>

<<Well <Chopin> is faring better than us <Emperor> maybe they do know something about football in Canada ?!>>

I totally resent that-- Canadians know <nothing> about football (soccer).

Jun-28-06  Open Defence: Chopin> no true Canadian would know anything about football but you have scored higher than <Emperor> who is Mr Football around here... so where ya really from boy ?!!?!! ;p
Jun-28-06  Chopin: <OD> <scored higher than <Emperor>>

My goal on <CG> is to kibitz more than <Emperor> in one hour. Actually, I should have more realistic goals, like landing on the moon one day.
