 | | WannaBe: Need music help...
It's a version of 'Summer Time' male singer, the song begins with tongue twirl, and then 'chuk, chuk, chuk, chuk' (??) with lots of horn. I'm looking for the band/musician who did this version. Much thanks in advance. |

|
| Oct-07-06 | | NakoSonorense: The end is near for the Dodgies. 8-5 now and only two more innings for them... |
|
| Oct-08-06 | | suenteus po 147: Sadly, the Dodgers lost to the Mets in a 3-0 division sweep. However, the Padres are playing later today and have hopes to tie their series against St. Louis. Go San Diego! |

| Oct-09-06 | | JDK: <WannaBe> Mungo Jerry perhaps? "In the summertime, when the weather is fine"..."I got women I got women on my mind" :-D I could of course be completely wrong and you're looking for the boyz2men version! |
|
| Oct-09-06 | | JDK: Btw, that was in answer to your music question, nothing to do with Baseball or Football. I am never too sure though Mets sound like a baseball team to me (meteors?) |
|
Oct-09-06
 | | WannaBe: <JDK> I know the Mungo Jerry version, (and the Janis Joplin version) and that's not the one. The version I'm looking for (the answer that I seek) has lots and lots of horn, trumpets I believe. The song begins with a tongue twirl (like Brrrrrrrrr) then Chuk, Chuk, Chuk, Chuk, and the trumpets comes in. Done by a male singer. Came out in the (mid?) 60s... (I think, could be early 70s) |

| Oct-09-06 | | Sannder: Hey <Wannabe>,
Thanks for helping out. I've more or less figured out how to use Crafty with Winboard. I just have a few technical questions, if you can help: -How can I change the parameters for analysis (Such as search depth/time etc.)?
- Is is possible to import FEN-positions into the engine?
- How exactly does editing the .craftyrc file work?
Sorry to bother you:),
Sander |

Oct-09-06
 | | WannaBe: <Sannder> I don't use Crafty, so I am not able to help you with the parameter setting and the FEN question. I was just gonna help with the computer install side of things. =) Try your questions here: User: crafty |

| Oct-09-06 | | Sannder: Hi Wannabe,
Thanks anyway! It hapens sometimes: I can;t figure something out, so i ask for help, I get it, but by that time I found the solution. Thanks again for offering your help though! Sander |

| Oct-09-06 | | YouRang: <WannaBe: My forum is open for Kf2 discussion.> I assume that the point of Kf2 is to launch a WannaBe king assault (an alternative to the WannaBe Gambit). It might go like this (lets suppose Nickel's next move is 15...Bc6):
 click for larger view
16. Kf2!? <WannaBe king assault> h5 <black, obviously frightened, tries to scare our king away>. 17. Kg3!! <but OUR king is scared of nothing!> Ng4! <curses! our king is blocked>. 18. h3 <the standard knee-jerk move to bother the black knight - you've got to trust your knees> Bh4+ <okay, the knight has to wait, we gotta move our king> 19. Kf3 <only move, let's hope for the best...> Nh2# <rats.>

Conclusion: Kf2 looks attractive, except (as is common with the WannaBe king assault) it does expose us to the risk of a cheap checkmate. |

| Oct-09-06 | | brankat: <WannaBe> Are the monthly weekend tourneys still taking place? |
|
Oct-09-06
 | | WannaBe: <YouRang> LOL. I love it when people can appreciate my humour. :-) <brankat> Yes, it still is, but due to the Loo fiasco, the original schedule was changed. And it interfered with the Monthly First Saturday Tournament. (How dare they!) So, for October, there was no tournament, to be resumed in November. |

 | | WannaBe: Just for sheets and giggles... One of my all-time favourite song. Through early morning fog I see,
Visions of the things to be,
The pains that are withheld for me,
I realize and I can see...
That suicide is painless.
It brings on many changes.
And I can take or leave it if I please.
I try to find a way to make,
All our little joys relate,
Without that ever-present hate,
But now I know that it's too late, and...
The game of life is hard to play,
I'm gonna lose it anyway.
The losing card I'll someday lay,
So this is all I have to say.
The only way to win is cheat,
And lay it down before I'm beat,
And to another give my seat,
For that's the only painless feat.
The sword of time will pierce our skins.
It doesn't hurt when it begins.
But as it works its way on in,
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...
A brave man once requested me,
to answer questions that are key.
Is it to be or not to be?
And I replied 'Oh why ask me?'
'Cause suicide is painless.
It brings on many changes.
And I can take or leave it if I please.
...And you can do the same thing if you choose.
