 | | WannaBe: Just for fun, got this in an e-mail, my score was 23. There is a 'trick' question, I thought, the question is: Where is Hollywood, and the answers I get to pick from was: Florida, California, and New York. Advanced warning, if anyone, uses the result to claim/post stupid things based on nationality, race, age, etc. Will be deleted. http://www.flashbynight.com/test/ |
| Nov-12-06 | | Archives: I did the test, and it said I was stupid. But well that IQ test is horrible - practically all general knowledge questions, and since I am not American, I had no idea on lots of them. Although I know I nailed the few math questions they had. This is a much more accurate IQ test...
1. How long did The Hundred Years' War last?
2. Which country makes Panama hats?
3. From what animal do we get catgut?
4. In what month do Russians celebrate the October Revolution? 5. What is Camel's hairbrush made from?
6. The Canary Islands in the Atlantic are named after what animal? 7. What was King George VI's first name?
8. What color is a Purple Finch?
9. Where are Chinese Gooseberries from?
10. How long did the Thirty Years' War last? |
| Nov-12-06 | | Archives: I am so smart.
S-M-A-T.
I mean S-M-A-R-T |
| Nov-12-06 | | hitman84: <WannaBe>My score 19 - smart Hollywood is in California, right ?
<Archives>Nice set of questions, I got 0/10 :) |
| Nov-12-06 | | Archives: <hitman> don't worry, most people would only score 1/10 ;) Here are the answers -
1. 116 years, from 1337 to 1453.
2. Ecuador.
3. Sheep & horses.
4. November (The Russian calendar was 13 days behind ours.) 5. Squirrel fur.
6. The Latin name was Insularia Canaria - Island of the Dogs. 7. Albert.
8. Crimson.
9. New Zealand.
10. 30 years obv |

<10. How long did the Thirty Years' War last ?> So, it's a trick question :) |
| Nov-12-06 | | chessmoron: <hitman84> Hollywood is in Florida. =( |
| Nov-12-06 | | Archives: <Hollywood is in Florida> Really? I always thought it was in LA. |
| Nov-12-06 | | chessmoron: Hollywood in Los Angeles is a district of Los Angeles, California whereas Hollywood in Florida is a city. As <WannaBe> said it's a trick question. |
Nov-12-06
 | | WannaBe: I knew Canary Island was named after dog, and I knew 100 year war lasted longer than 100 years, but not exactly how many... so 1.5(?) for me on that test =( |
| Nov-12-06 | | dakgootje: <Archives> nice questions ;-) got 3/10, maybe should have gotten 4/10, but didnt have a clue for the other 6 =P |
| Nov-12-06 | | dakgootje: Sorry for the double post (which this probably is going to be), but need something to say about http://www.flashbynight.com/test/ Its not that im not happy because it didnt show the brilliancy which it obviously should have (it actually thought i was smart ghehe). The problem is that it is not suitable for persons like under the 20 or with an 'other than english' native tongue. How the hell should a 17 yo dutch guy know where Clinton comes from, who a serial killer was, what kind of CAR the evolution is or when elvis died??? |
| Nov-12-06 | | technical draw: Trick questions are not used in true IQ tests. Yes or no? |
| Nov-12-06 | | Open Defence: well i got 20 on that test... not american but.. hehehe... |
| Nov-12-06 | | dakgootje: <well i got 20 on that test... not american but.. hehehe...> This time you beat me lol - only had 19 =( - Age matters afterall eh? ;-) |
| Nov-12-06 | | NakoSonorense: Cool. I scored 21, which means that I'm 20.2% smarter than all of you. Buahaha. :) I should've paid attention to what wannabe said about the Hollywood question. I fell for the obvious answer, CA. :( |
| Nov-12-06 | | Open Defence: btw i too chose CA instead of FL.. was not aware of the city in FL... |
| Nov-12-06 | | Open Defence: chines rulez.... india rules.. ;-p |
| Nov-12-06 | | chessmoron: <dakgootje> Please no Latin gibberish! =D |
| Nov-12-06 | | dakgootje: <Please no Latin gibberish!> Oh cmon, with some general knowledge you can decipher that part! =P |
| Nov-12-06 | | technical draw: Common Latin phrases:

| Nov-12-06 | | Open Defence: <common latin phrases> eatius birduis .. tastius rapidus...... |
Nov-12-06
 | | WannaBe: Speak of 'latin'. The roadrunner and Wiley E. Coyote always had funny latin for their genus names. =) |
| Nov-12-06 | | dakgootje: for the ones still unable to even have a clue what contradictio in terminis means: A contradictio in terminis is a certain connection between two words in a group out of which it can be derived that such a combination is entirely impossible. |
