 | | WannaBe: <Joe>s, I read the article, thank you both. I can see why it was posted here for me to read. =) <AlexanderBayouBoy> I tried Go a few times, never quite got in to it as deeply as chess. Possibly because both me and my opponent <DrDum> did not understand the game, and were just screwing around with it. |
|
| Sep-03-07 | | brankat: CG.com's Quote of the Day, Sept, 03/2007:
"Chess is a fairy tale of 1001 blunders."
---S. Tartakower :-) |
|
Sep-03-07
 | | WannaBe: With me, it's more like 100000001 blunders. |
|
| Sep-03-07 | | brankat: Hmmm, looks like a binary code :-) |
|
Sep-04-07
 | | WannaBe: Shows you what kind of person I am:
When ever I go grocery shopping, after check-out, the clerk will ask me if I need any help out. I've always responded with: 'No thanks, I can find my way...' |
|

 | | WannaBe: Another semi-personal note, saw the trailer for Resident Evil III on yahoo, on the side bar, the rating states: <MPAA Rating: R for non-stop violence, language and some nudity.> They had me at non-stop violence!! =) |
|
| Sep-04-07 | | chessmoron: Stop fooling around <WannaBe>. You don't care about the movie or non-stop violence. All you care is to see Milla Jovovich naked. |
|

 | | WannaBe: I see that you think like me...
I strongly recommend you find the best medical doctor that specializes in chess-addicted-kibitz'n-on-line and get yourself an appointment. I'd give you the name of mine, but my Doc's calendar is already filled up, with my name! =) |
|
| Sep-04-07 | | brankat: <WannaBe> <I've always responded with: 'No thanks, I can find my way...'> I do the same type of a thing:
Q: Got a smoke?
A: Yes, I do. Thanks for asking.
Usually in bars:
Q: Got any money, honey?
A: Yes, I do, But, thanks for asking. Very considerate of You. On the street everything is for sale:
Hustler: I've got a brand new pair of shoes.
Answer: Really? Good for you. Congratulations!
And there is a lot more, which I've refined over the years of living in DT Eastside :-) |

 | | WannaBe: Okay, I don't know how many Carl's Jr. there are in Europe (where a lot of CG.com member resides, or outside of U.S., does Canada or Mexico or S. America have Carl's Jr??) This is their latest 'funny' commercial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNla...
But, to go back a bit, here is one with Paris Hilton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmgn...
And of course, it spawned a spoof: (Strong warning! Not for a weak stomached, must havea strong will and determination to watch this one!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EVs... |
|
| Sep-05-07 | | brankat: <WannaBe> This Paris Hilton persona. Is that the one in the second, or the 3rd commercial? |
|
Sep-05-07
 | | WannaBe: <brankat> Paris is in the second one. =) |
|
| Sep-05-07 | | brankat: <WannaBe> Heheheee .. Just as I thought :-) |

 | | WannaBe: That's just rude! For a country/culture that respects the elderly. I say let her do it!! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070901... |

Sep-06-07
 | | WannaBe: 3 games that I'll be paying attentions to this weekend: BYU @ UCLA, Go-Go Bruins!
Oregon @ Michigan, and Notre Dame @ Penn St., just out of morbid curiosity, on how 'well' Michigan and ND gonna play. =) |
|
| Sep-07-07 | | brankat: <WannaBe> About the above matches. Is this an all-American Team Chess Championship? |
|
Sep-07-07
 | | WannaBe: <brankat> Alas, no, it's American Football (inter-collegiate). Also known as NCAA. Hey! It's football season in America! =) |
|
| Sep-07-07 | | brankat: <WannaBe> I have not seen the September issue of "Chess Life" with the picture of our very own Irwin Philip (<whiskeyrebel> in it, but according to <keypusher>, unless he was joking, a photo of Paris Hilton is on the cover page of this same issue. Of course, now it is an absolute must to get a copy :-) And, yes, I knew those were Football games ;-) |

 | | WannaBe: News Item: Duke lacrosse players are seeking 30 million from Durham County, and wants the DA office reformed. Reaction: Dude!! Do you know what kind of BITCHIN' party you can have with 30 million dollars? And how many exotic dancers you can hire?!?! |
|

 | | WannaBe: Even millionaires play the lottery, who'd thunk it?! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070907... |

Sep-07-07
 | | WannaBe: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070907... See, now, Foxy got the shaft, if this had happened in liberal, democrat controlled, California, or Los Angeles area, with our sheriff, she'd only do 50 minutes in prison. But no!! She's looking at one year in prison, for hitting someone with a cell phone, then getting into a fight with two manicurists! Then you get the celebrity drunk driving ones in california, Lindsay gets 1 day, and Nicole Richie gets 82 minutes behind bars!! It's not the seriousness of the crime, but where you do it at! |
|
Sep-08-07
 | | WannaBe: I can't believe this debate is still going on...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070908... |
|
Sep-08-07
 | | WannaBe: Pillow fight of the (next) week!! Notre Dame @ Michigan. One of them gonna be 0-3, since NCAA no longer have ties anymore! Time to dig up the ol' history books and see when was the last time one of these team started 0-3!! What are the chessbookie's odds that the losing coach gets fired?! |

 | | WannaBe: Time for another <WannaBe>'s book review! "Satan's Circus" by Mike Dash http://www.amazon.com/Satans-Circus... This is the 4th book of his that I've read, and again, I wasn't disappointed. This book starts late 1800s, and ends early 1900s, tells the story of Charles Becker, his 'rise' in the NYPD, and the eventual downfall. The characters in the story are quite colorful, gamblers, grafters, and of course, ladies of the night. Tammaney Hall's involvement is covered in detail, and the later bosses of the Hall are covered, along with NYC's mayor, and the judicial hearing of the case is just incredible. Highly recommended, people who enjoy history of the early 1900s of New York would certainly enjoy this book. Next book review, "Passion and Principle" by Sally Denton. |
