| Oct-15-07 | | chesstoplay: Wow!! WannaBe... is that Charles Xavier in that bed at the end??? And it happened so fast out of no where!!
And who was the woman he spoke to: "Mora" or something like that?? At first, I thought it was all about chess.
Then I thought maybe you were one of the chess players in the background!! Then Magneto got a little push on a metal chess piece. And then the credits started.
But I kept reminding myself how clear you were on the VERY end. so I stayed the course and WOW!. So who were the two characters on the screen and what do you think it all means? Now I'm endlessly curious, so get back to me as soon as you read this!! And thanks for the great tip!

 | | WannaBe: Now that the Colorado Rockies have 8 days off before World Series starts, eight things to do, one for each off-day... 1. Watch "Things to do in Denver When You're Dead" over, and over, and over, and over... 2. Go watch the NHL Colorado Avalanche, and get pointers on how to drive a Zamboni, they may need to use it to resurface the infield at their next home game. 3. Have their pitchers sit butt-naked on the ice during the two intermissions of Avalanche's home game, to get used to the cold they'll be experiencing... Whether they'll be playing at Boston, at Cleveland, or just playing at home. 4. Ask all the fans that brought brooms to game 4 of NLDS sweep up the stadium trash. 5. Spend the extra break days to finally get that champaign smell and stain out of the carpet in the locker room. 6. Have their pitchers try out for the QB position for the Broncos. 7. Make snow angels.
8. Make sure everyone knows how to spell T-u-l-o-w-i-t-z-k-i, with 'z', and 'i'. And that Matsui is not the same one as the one that plays for the Yankees, who's already sitting at home watching the games on TV. |

| Oct-18-07 | | whiskeyrebel: WannaBe, here's a mystery for you and your cheerful pals here to solve or laugh at. I'd appreciate any theories explaining something I just discovered. Chessbase has a game included in its online database between me and the mighty Laszlo Szabo in Las Vegas in 1973. If you search my name "Irwin, Philip" it comes up along with a game from earlier this year I actually played in Vegas. I played lots of rated games back then in the Pacific NW ( I was 16) but never in Vegas..unless I was drugged or in a parallel universe. The name given when the game comes up is complete with my middle initial: Philip R. Irwin. In all my years as a USCF rated player I never noticed another Phil Irwin listed. How would my name get mixed up with Szabo? Incidentally, there are games here on his page played that year in 1973. I'll drink a Texas triple shot in the name of the favorite charity of whomever can shed light on this. |
