WannaBe: Feels weird, I actually 'feel' like an owner now... Wonder if it is because I solved 50% of my 'problem' this morning, and will take care of the other 50% tomorrow... Or it is because of whatever... :-)

Actually 'interviewed' a couple of potential employees. It wasn't a formal interview, but just more/less talking and explaining things to them...

They said they will let me know soon. =)

Feb-18-08  NakoSonorense: But... aren't you supposed to be the one who lets them know if they get the job or not?

If you're too flexible with them, they will end up choosing how much you're going to pay them (which I'm sure will be a lot!), how many hours they're going to work (trust me... people are lazy, they will choose only a few hours/wk), etc.

If you're not careful, your employees will end up firing you!

Feb-18-08  technical draw: I agree with Nakosonorense...

WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> Well, during the 'interview' the pay and hours are all spelled out, that is why they are deciding...

Kinda like a job offer sheet from a corporate environment, where they say, okay, this is your salary, benefits, 401K, and we expect 40 hours a week from you.

If they can't do it, then they won't get the job. This is pretty 'amazing', I've got people who is coming off the streets enquiring if I'm hiring, without even putting up a sign...

Got a 'good' one, the guy have a BA in restaurant management, 6+ years of experience, willing to work part/full time at my li'l rink-a-dink joint!

Time must be rough out there.

WannaBe: She have accepted my offer, and will begin training Thursday.
Feb-18-08  brankat: <WannaBe> <This is pretty 'amazing', I've got people who is coming off the streets enquiring if I'm hiring, without even putting up a sign...>

With most of bars everywhere this is a common and most efficient practice. And not just with bars.

<She have accepted my offer, and will begin training Thursday.>

Who'll be training who? :-)

Feb-19-08  DrDum: Well, since i have time at 'work' (which means im not satisifying my crack habit, i mean my world of warcraft addictions), I quess i'll bring this up.

Is anybody watching the the <Sarah Connor Chronicles>? For those unfamiliar with <Terminator>, in the future there is war between man and machines. The overarching intellegence guiding the machines is called <skynet>. Well boys and girls guess what? Back here in the present guess where the progenitors of <skynet> are? You got <Chess Programs>. The last two episodes were replete with chess references. Kasparov v. Kramnik. Kramnik v. Deep Fritz. A charachter created AI called the 'Turk" What I was impressed by was the writers actually got 99% of the chess references correct. (okay, there was a surprise queen sac in comp v. comp game <ahem>) otherwise GREAT show.

Final point boys and girls. Its the chess players who are responsible for the end of the world. Do you know who your Fritz is talking too?

WannaBe: <brankat> I am the Jedi master, and she will be the student...

And yes, she will be trained by the <BEST> and in this case/scenario, as far as the bar/waitressing bidness goes... <I AM THE BEST>!!

No Odd Lie there... If you ever see(n) me... you'd agree too. :-)

WannaBe: Now, Ms. Helen, my ex-manager of the bar that I used to work at, <SHE> is the Jedi master of <MASTERS>! (But please don't call her Yoda, she ain't that <OLD>!!)

She taught me, and she taught me <WELL>, I am forever in debt to her, she showed me the 'path', and I developed, and I use the <FORCE> now...

Ms. Helen, I love you, and I thank you for being my 'Jedi Master'!!

WannaBe: Oh, My Goodness!!! Two of the <GREATEST> of all times! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yKg...
Feb-19-08  technical draw: "There was this skinny chess player, sitting at <Wannabe's> bar. This big construction worker walks in, bangs his fist on the bar and says "Gimme a Bud!" And Wannabe yells "One Bud for one stud" The chessplayer sees this and says "I'm going to do the same thing tomorrow and get some respect around here! So the next day the skinny guy walks in, bangs his fist on the bar and, and, he forgot what to say! So he says "Gimme a beer"!, and Wannabe answers "One beer for one queer!"
