Nov-21-09  Jim Bartle: So what is it with this ND coach Weis? He seemed so brilliant with the Patriots, now nothing. Was it really just that they were cheating by filming the other teams' signals?

I did see part of one Notre Dame game, and I was amazed how weak an arm their supposed phenom quarterback has.

WannaBe: So... And how much did this study cost??? http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/whensle...
Nov-22-09  hangingenprise: the only redemption u s c can attain is a WIN the last game of the season.
Nov-22-09  chessmoron: USC will be back next year with some strongest recruits in the field of offense and defense.

WannaBe: <hangingenprise> You mean beating Arizona after they lose to UCLA... And clinch a spot in the Holiday Bowl?

WannaBe: Why a playoff system is needed at D-I football...

USC beat Cal at Berkeley 30-3.
Stanford beat USC at L.A. 55-21
Cal beat Stanford at Palo Alto 34-28

And yet, Cal is ranked 21, USC is ranked 24, and Stanford is not ranked...

Huh????? I think Sicilian Najdorf is easier to learn/understand than BCS.

WannaBe: When Bill Bilichek tried it, it was 4th and 2, okay maybe a long 2, but this is ridiculous...

Nov-23-09  Jim Bartle: Whoa! I know they have strict admission standards for students at Yale. They ought to have them for the football coach, too.
Nov-24-09  hangingenprise: sacrilege!! that ucla and usc don't play the last game of the season like they use too. pete will recruit like
a mad person to beat both stanford and ucla, but especially stanford.
Nov-26-09  NakoSonorense: Did you hear what they did to our bear???

WannaBe: Man, UCLA is getting killed! By the Portland Pilots!? And we get to play the number one ranked Kansas later in the season??
Nov-27-09  NakoSonorense: I hope that tomorrow is a good day for us. Three straight losses against them would be terrible!

By the way, sorry. I know I said that I would go down to your biz in Long Beach and have a beer, but I just moved to Arizona two weeks ago.

I would've liked seeing the game there, but I can't now. But I promise to pay you a visit next time I am in town, which may or may not be soon...

WannaBe: Ah... You moved! I see, that's why my phone call to you wasn't returned...

(I had extra ticket to the Pepperdine-UCLA basketball game at Pauley.)

Nov-28-09  NakoSonorense: I just checked, we won that game! How was it?

I didn't know you called. I've been in Mexico for the last week visiting some family and I didn't get reception for the first few days.

WannaBe: The game was fine, and as you know, we then lost to Portland, and then Butler, UCLA basketball will now play Cal State Long Beach, which is about 1.5 miles away from where I live Sunday...

WannaBe: Our seats were right behind the basket, at the Pepperdine's end of the bench side, about 8 rows up...

Pretty cool seats, but the basket does get in the way of viewing.

Nov-28-09  hangingenprise: IT'S ON!!
and you play chess like a bruin!
Nov-28-09  chessmoron: YES! SC strikes first.
Nov-28-09  Jim Bartle: Meanwhile, Notre Dame is getting every possible call from the refs vs. Stanford. Unbelievable.
Nov-29-09  hangingenprise: it is charming to hear the S C fight song on this page.
Nov-29-09  zanshin: <Jim Bartle: Meanwhile, Notre Dame is getting every possible call from the refs vs. Stanford. Unbelievable.>

That's ok - it just makes the victory sweeter.

Nov-30-09  zanshin: No shock - Weis is out at ND.
Nov-30-09  hangingenprise: you mean weis did not call a time out?
