WannaBe: Another not important thing that I noticed, as a premium member when I visit ChessGames.com Statistics Page page, I see ads. Not that a big deal. Sure CG.com have more important things to fix.

Dec-08-10  redorc19: Hi, <WannaBe>. I don't know if you would remember (you probably wouldn't) but you once commented on a game: "Hmm, I wonder if this Queen sac was theory back then." In the game, white plays a queens pawn opening and eventually sacs his queen for a win; I don't remember much else about it and I was wondering if you know the game. It didn't have much kibitzs and white won. If you could,, please see if you could tell me what it is. I've been trying to find it for ages, so please just try to remember.

Dec-08-10  redorc19: BTW, I know my request is unreasonable, but just in case........

D Kosic vs S Cvetkovic, 1994 (black won)

Conquest vs B Thorfinnsson, 2000 (white won)

Dec-10-10  redorc19: Thanks, <WannaBe>!!! I'll check them over.

English people always start wars. If only I came from a more peaceful country- such as Germany or Japan, for example.

Best Informed

Best Written Post

Best Game Collection

All nominees will be taken until 11:59 PM (Eastern) January 1st 2010! You can nominate multiple member in the same category, you don't have to nominate someone in all the categories. If you find no one funny, then skip the Funniest Category.

Starting Jan. 3rd we will vote (again, at my forum, yet, another shameless plug...) with 2 categories per day, and the voting will end at 11:59 PM Eastern, (same as last year) and the winner will be soon announced.

Best informed is easy: <Domdaniel>

Best written post: anything by <Once>

Funniest Kibitzer: Let me be the first to vote for <TechnicalDraw>. He promised me a t-shirt if I did.

I may come back and vote for other categories after some research.

Thanks for doing this yet again.

jessicafischerqueen: I nominate <Technical Draw> for funniest kibbitzer, and I will also vote for him.

As promised!

I forget what deal we made- it didn't involve 20 dollars is all I can remember.

But I did promise.

jessicafischerqueen: Also I nominate <crawfb5> for best historian.

He has spent the better part of a year reconstructing games and tournament results and associated history that document virtually all of the "lost era" in American chess.

Note his new games collections on the early American congresses and matches- note especially the extraordinary amount of information in the written introductions to these collections:
