Feb-04-06  sitzkrieg: Lets force the draw and beat them with white!
Feb-04-06  sitzkrieg: In view of Rons post i have looked at the line again. Maybe they can try after Qb6+ Kh1, Ng6 and then Bd6. Ra7 and Rd8 look then both good enough for us, with the latter more forcing. We keep the piece and probably should win or at least draw.

My vote goes for Qb6 ch unles you discover something new.

Feb-04-06  sitzkrieg: Maybe followed by a draw offer:) then we know what they want for sure.

WannaBe: One more Qb6+ wouldn't hurt, just to test out the water and see what's it like...
Feb-05-06  RonB52734: I looked at this for a while and I still like Qb6+, perhaps with a draw offer. I think they might move the King, but I think we can then move the Knight out of the way.

tpstar: <Cogano> Your sincere politeness is very refreshing. =)

For future reference, there's a difference in the spacing between "Preview Kibitz" and the posted message itself, so you don't need to hyphenate anything (rea-son) because the words will wrap around and fix themselves. Try going without next time.

There are several Internet sites to play chess, which are very easy to use with lots of beginners and amateurs so you won't feel intimidated. Try GameKnot and QueenAlice for slow chess, or FICS and Yahoo for blitz games. If you do play online, try to save your games (many sites e-mail the gamescore to you) to study and improve. Good luck. =)

WannaBe: <tpstar> Ah... that explains the hyphenated words in the posts... Wondered about it, but didn't want to be rude and ask. =)

WannaBe: No one else has checked in yet, I'm gonna go with Qb6+ again, and see what they do.
Feb-04-06  RonB52734: Ok, here's a question. Assuming we get a re-match as white, I play 1.d4. I suspect most people probably play 1.e4. If this is correct, I'd want to spend some time between now and the start of the rematch studying the main 1.e4 openings. I wouldn't consider it fair to do so once the game started. So tell me how you guys like to open. Also, we seem to, perhaps, need a 5th player?

WannaBe: If there is a 'rematch' I'll sit out. I was thinking letting others play. There has been (quite) a few members here that was very interested in joining a team. I know <mandar> was very very enthusiastic to the idea.

If it was up to me, I'd go 1. b3 =)

Feb-04-06  Robin01: I will not be able to look at this until later this evening.
Feb-04-06  Robin01: If we start a new game with white, either e4 or d4 are fine with me.
Feb-04-06  Robin01: I looks like the queen back to b6 with check is okay, but we should check out other stuff just in case we find something.
Feb-04-06  sitzkrieg: I also dont care what white opening is played in a possible next game, d4 is no problem for me.
Feb-04-06  RonB52734: How about Qa7+ here? I know it postpones a draw, but it does free up our R a little faster

WannaBe: If we play Qa7+ then most likely Be3 again. If that is to be the scenario, might as well do Qb6+.
Feb-04-06  RonB52734: Yeah, you're right. There really is no advantage to Qa7 over Qb6. If they block with the bishop, we go to Qb8 either way, and if they do something like Kh1, we're likely to want to move the Knight, not the Rook right away, and also to want an eventual Ra7. (In fact, I remember now that the possible Ra7 was already mentioned by someone as the reason for not playing Qa7.)
Feb-04-06  Robin01: We should just play 26...Qb6+. If the move the king, we can play 27...Ng6 and we have what looks like is a nice advantage. So I guess we can also offer a draw with our move.
Feb-04-06  Robin01: I vote for 26...Qb6+ with a draw offer.
Feb-04-06  Cogano: Hi <tpstar> and I sincerely hope this finds you well. Thank you most kindly for your kind words, for your compliments, and for your suggestions. They are most gratefully appreciated. As for the chess-playing sites, I will be sure to try them, especially since I will soon begin studying with WGM Dembo. I am most excited & most looking forward to that. Thanks again. Take very good care & have a great weekend. Cheers mate!
Feb-04-06  Cogano: <tpstar> Addendum: Thank you so much for suggesting to abandon using hyphens. I never realized my words would appear whole like that (on other sites, if I don't hyphen, a huge gaping hole is left in the line!). You've just
saved me so much time & headaches. Thank you again. Take care!
Feb-04-06  Cogano: Hi again <WannaBe> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. You need not worry about being rude by asking me about my use of hyphens, or anything else for that matter. Ask away. & if I have any reason to take issue with your question (s), I'll let you know. There really is no other way for you to know what's acceptable to me & what isn't. So feel free to ask. In any case, thank you for being discrete, & polite. It's most refreshing to see civilized, dignified conduct, especially in an online setting, where, alas, I've seen little of such conduct. Take very good care & have a great weekend. Cheers mate!
Feb-04-06  RonB52734: The problem with 26...Qb6+ 27.Kh1 Ng6 28. Bd6 Rd8 (as opposed to 28...Ra7) is 29.Bc7! Unless I'm missing something, we can't play 28...Rd8.
Feb-04-06  RonB52734: I think I'm in the mood for a draw offer here, so my vote goes to Qb6 and offer a draw. <sitzkrieg> was the first to propose it, although he used the word "maybe." I will need to hear from <sitzkrieg> and <WannaBe> on the draw offer issue.

I take Qb6+ to be our move by unanimous vote. I will be awake in time to post the move in the morning, so I'll wait to hear on the draw issue.

Feb-04-06  Robin01: <26...Qb6+ 27.Kh1 Ng6 28. Bd6 > Our move here is 28...Ra7 and we are in good shape it looks like.
