| Feb-03-06 | | Robin01: White has a variety of moves they can play next. If they play 26...Bf4, then I believe we might get a repetition of position. |
|
| Feb-03-06 | | Robin01: We need to challenge them to another game in that case, where we get the white pieces. |
|
| Feb-03-06 | | RonB52734: I notice that <sitzkrieg> has already said <I 'd say we stick to the plan with Qb8.> As I mentioned, I'm at home today, so I can post at 3:59 p.m. :) |

 | | WannaBe: Sounds good. <RonB52734> must be home stocking up on beer and chips for the big game on Sunday. :-) |
|
| Feb-03-06 | | RonB52734: Gotta save my strength, ya know :) |
|
| Feb-03-06 | | Robin01: Well, I'm not sure I'd cut it that close (3:59). How about 3:58! |
|
| Feb-03-06 | | Robin01: <RonB52734> must be home drinking beer and eating chips, because you can never have enough practice prior to the actual event. If you don't practice, you might not get it right during game day. |

| Feb-03-06 | | Cogano: Hi <WannaBe> and I sincerely hope this finds you well. I wonder if you'd be good enough to help me with some -thing. Recently, I posted a kibbitz on Ms. Zsuzsa Polgar's page. In her reply, one
of the things she suggested was to create a blog account, whatever that is. I went to her blog-spot page and I actually managed to figure out how to set up an account. My problem is that now I'm saddled with something I know nothing about, don't know how to use or
what to do with. How would people learn of my blogsite's existence, provided they'd ever have a reason to post any-thing there? The only reason I created the account was because it gave me another way I could communicate with Ms. Polgar and provide and receive from
her feedback on her puzzles. Any & all assistance you are able to afford me would be gratefully appreciated. Thank
you ever most kindly for your anticipated patience, tolerance, understanding,
consi-deration and assistance. Take very good care and have yourself a most joyous day, every day -- & have a great
weekend too! Cheers mate! |

 | | WannaBe: I swear, this guy's politeness is killing me... :-)
<Cogano> A blog (shortened from we<b> <log>, because wlog would be hard to pronounce. =) Is usually where one posts their 'diary', if you will, on-line. <User: eyesofblue > has his own blog, he sometimes have polls or asks members here to comment on his blog. And you can access/view his blog by first go to his profile, and he has the link posted there. You too, can do that. Either put the link in your profile, or occassionally ask (via Kibitzer's Cafe) members here to comment on your blog (with a link to it, of course). One way to get things rolling is to post a notice in the Cafe, "Hey, I have a new blog. Please comment or give me some some suggestion." and a link to it. But if you do that too often, people will think you're spamming or advertising. =) At first, your activity/posts to your blog may not get much response, but don't get discouraged. If you enjoy writing daily entries, or even twice a week, once a week, that's fine too. Just remember, you are not required to write to keep OTHERS happy, you are doing it because you like it. People usually like to read blogs that are either 'juicy' or 'informative'. Hope this helps, and you don't have to be so polite. :-) |
|
| Feb-03-06 | | Cogano: Hi again <WannaBe> and I sincerely hope
this finds you well. First, thank you ever most kindly for your prompt reply & your more than generous help. I feel a lot less igno-rant about blogs now and, thanks to you, I now know what
they're for and how to use them. As for my politeness, pity it's killing you. I
guess you're just not used to it where you live, which is just too bad. Being polite for me reflects my attitude and,
more important, my philosophy, which is
based on the most important lesson I ever learned:
I learned that when a person treats another being, human or otherwise, well, with respect, with compassion and with dig-nity etc., it's because that person already treats themselves as such. Whereas, when a person treats another being, human or otherwise, as some-thing of no value, as something fit only to be used, abused, or enslaved etc., as an object, and/or as dirt or scum etc., it is because they already treat them-selves as faeces. I learned this at least as much, if not more, from my own actions, as much as I learned it from other people’s actions, and learned it the hard way too, I might add! So, yes sir, I do have to be polite, not only because it's the right thing to do (ethical, moral etc.), not only because it yields better results, not only because you & others deserve it, but also because I want to do my utmost best to treat myself well,... --
with being polite a convenient by-product, part of the package! :) I hope that sets straight some of the things I've said on the various pages of chessgames.com, and what you may have noticed about me. Take very good care and have yourself a most joyous day, every day -- and have a great weekend too! Cheers mate! |

 | | WannaBe: <Cogano> You're welcome. :-) |
|
| Feb-03-06 | | Cogano: <WannaBe> Your conciseness pains me, all the more so because of my verboseness. You use so few words to express yourself quite adequately, efficiently,
effectively and eloquently. Whereas I end up requiring entire passages, that seem inspired by Dickins, to express myself even a frac-tion of how well you express yourself! Oh well, too bad, I guess! I'll talk to you later sir. Cheers! |
|
| Feb-03-06 | | RonB52734: Wordiness, or excessive verbosity as it is sometimes called, or jabber-jaw, motor-mouth and similar conjugations in the daily lexicon, is, as I have found -- and I should point out that this is after considerable thought and even some study, as I use words for a living in the way that others use hammer and tongs, swords and plowshares, beanie and cecil, and the like -- often. But that's just my opinion. |

|
| Feb-03-06 | | Robin01: I see there is nothing brewing here yet. |
|
| Feb-03-06 | | Robin01: Speaking about a brew, it's time for a Heineken. |

Feb-04-06
 | | WannaBe: I would like to activate our a8 rook, but if white plays Bd4 it's out of action for at least one more move. If white plays Bd4 do we respond with Qd8? then Rd1 by white?? Hummina, hummina, hummina...
Barkeep!! (I used to be one during college) give me a beer, make it a Bud Lite and make it a double!! :-) It's gonna be a long weekend. |
|
| Feb-04-06 | | RolandTesh: <WannaBe>
Congratulations on hosting a forum second only to <Emperor>. If it wasn't for that Dutch pannekoeken-eater (with strop), you'd be number one for sure. :-) <Hummina, hummina, hummina... > I like garbonzo beans too.
<Barkeep!! (I used to be one during college) give me a beer, make it a Bud Lite and make it a double!! :-)> Take everything I say with a grain of salt -- and a slice of lime, and a shot of tequila. |

 | | WannaBe: Nah, without this consultation game, mine would be at the bottom... I'd be hearing crickets here... *chirp, chirp* |
|
| Feb-04-06 | | RolandTesh: <WannaBe>
<Nah, without this consultation game, mine would be at the bottom...
I'd be hearing crickets here... *chirp, chirp*> Now you see, you should have responded to specifics in my posting -- then tell me how clever I am. :-) Then, you'll be ahead of the <Emp> in no time. You're the better chess player. |
|
| Feb-04-06 | | Cogano: Hi <RonB52734> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. I'm just curious, you never finished your thought. You were saying something about wordiness. But after you added that extra info between
hyphens, you never explained what you found wordiness to be: "Wordiness, or excessive verbo-sity... -- and I should point out... -- often." & I'm curious to hear your opinion, unless you mind sharing it, of course. Anyway, take very good care & have a great day & a great weekend too! Cheers mate! |
|
| Feb-04-06 | | RonB52734: <Cogano> Actually, I was just trying to make a funny. :) Would you think I was a geek if I told you that one of my earliest memories is of my grandmother admonishing me to "omit needless words"? No, of course you wouldn't. You already know that the first thing I'm doing on a Saturday morning is posting inane comments on a chess website. |
|
| Feb-04-06 | | Cogano: <RonB52734> Actually, I have an even better rea-son not to think you're a geek for having that as your ear-liest memory, since all my earliest, believe it or not, are from when I was young enough to sleep in a crib & was still
suck-ling, but I'm not brave enough to share them here as they're most unpleasant (mistreatment etc.)! But
that's another story. And it is a funny joke, but I've barely had any sleep (I suffer from chronic anxiety & chronic insomnia, that medi-cines only made worse => I take none now!) hence the fact that I first had to ask you about it. My mind is still swimming in muck! LOL Enjoy your weekend pal. And I'll talk to you later. Cheers! |
|
| Feb-04-06 | | RonB52734: White played Bf4. Now let's not jump to conclusions here. There may be something more for either side than repetition. |
