  WannaBe: http://espn.go.com/blog/poynterrevi...

The ESPN's ombudsman (Did I spell that correctly?) have written/posted about the latest 'incidents' regarding Jeremy Lin. The usage/phrase 'Chink in the Armour', and others.

Okay, being an Asian, and Chinese, who came to the U.S. in the early '80s, I think I 'can/allowed' say a few (serious) words upon this matter.

Media, if you stop spot-lighting Jeremy as Chinese/Asian/White-Men Can't Jump Mentality you'd not have this problem.

The issue(s) is/are self created, you, are your own worst enemy, end of story. If Jeremy does good, and is an 'undiscovered' gem, so be it, report it as such.

Don't report it as some Asian-American Smart Economist Harvard Graduate who made it to the NBA where the players are One and done from some basketball-player factory. You created this monster, now stop feeding it.

As far as the 'name' is concerned, Jeremy is born in the U.S. of A. and hence, he is American, do you (the media) write about Tiger Woods as Asian-African-American? No.

Do you write about S. Johansson as Scandinivian-European actress? No...

Why push the fact that Jeremy is Asian basketball player, and not just as NBA Player?

Feb-22-12  brankat: Well said Jim. Right on!
Feb-24-12  BadKnight: Thank you so much. I think i can handle manual pairing now. I am guessing all of the players will be unrated, so i will do random pairing.

Now the difficult part is handling odd number of players, in case final number is slightly more or less than eight.

<If after round 1, they are all 0.5, I'd just lock the door and go home. =))>

ha ha ha!! Probability of this happening is slightly more than 0 percent though, so i pray i do not fall for it.

WannaBe: I saw 'The Artist', and thought it was alright, cutesy movie, nothing too super-duper.

Then again, I did not see all the nominees, maybe it was a weak field this year?
