  WannaBe: Raiders sux...
Sep-16-12  hangingenprise: they not only sux; they sux big time!!

it's time to start over. dismantle the whole team, keep the draft choices, and sign some quality people.

WannaBe: <hangingenprise> One only had to look at the Raiders' rushing stats (rushes for 1st down, number of rushes, rushing yards) and one would realize how they lost the game.

WannaBe: Just found out, my Kevin Bacon number is 3. =))

Jimmy Yu -> Scott Schwartz (Changing Hands)

Scott Schwartz -> Elizabeth Gorcey (KidCo)

Elizabeth Gorcey -> Kevin Bacon (Footloose)

Go to google.com and enter an actor/actress name, followed by "Bacon Number" =)

Sep-17-12  technical draw: <Go to google.com and enter an actor/actress name, followed by "Bacon Number" =)>

Sorry can't do that. Especially during High Holidays.

WannaBe: <technical draw> Just have to make sure they are Kosher Bacon. =))
Sep-17-12  technical draw: What the heck is a Bacon number anyway?

WannaBe: <technical draw> Six degree of separation of Kevin Bacon. =)

He's been in so many movies, you can link any actor/actress to Kevin Bacon in six degrees or less.

Similar to Paul Erdos number, Paul worked with many mathmaticians, and you can link Paul to others by at most six degrees of separation.

Or, my 'Fischer Number' is 2, because I played Susan Polgar and Susan played Bobby... =)

Now, the game isn't in the database, but I remember Susan posting on her page about playing Bobby when younger.

Sep-17-12  technical draw: OK my Fischer numer is 2 also. That is if I can remember who I played, Hans Berliner or Nicolas Rossolimo.
Sep-17-12  TheFocus: <TD> You played both and beat them, thereby winning the tournament and your final Grandmaster norm.

Congratulations! <GMTD>

Sep-17-12  technical draw: Thanks, <Focus>. My memory is getting real bad. I don't remember getting a GM title but if you say so that's good enough for me.
Sep-17-12  TheFocus: I hope you didn't forget about that $100 you owe me.

And we'll pick it up at move 48. with white to play:

My thoughts, and ideas was of course, being a knight ahead, the knight takes the back pawn, rook takes and I can eliminate another pawn, giving me a two-pawn advantage.

The recommendation, by the computer, is different:

Mistake: +3.07 » 48. Nxg6+ Rxg6 49. Rh7 h4 50. Rxh4 Kg7 51. Rh5 Kf6 52. Kf2 Rg8 53. h3 Ke6 54. Rh6+ Ke7 55. Rb6 Ra8 56. g4 Ra3 57. gxf5 Rxh3 58. Re6+

Best: +5.51 » 48. Kf2 Kg8 49. Kg2 h4 50. gxh4 Ra6 51. Re7 Ra2+ 52. Kg3 Ra3+ 53. Kf2 Ra2+ 54. Ke3 Ra3+ 55. Kd4 Ra4+ 56. Kd5 Ra5+ 57. Kd6 Ra6+ 58. Kc5

  WannaBe: Generation Gap:

So, this morning, all the radio (hosts) was talking about Billy Joel, and how he smashed a guitar at the iHeart Radio show in Las Vegas.

I kept wondering, why on earth would Billy Joel smash a guitar on stage, and flip people off? And when did he start playing a string instrument??

Sep-25-12  brankat: Hi Jim.

Thanks for the link to the article re: Hitler's "birth-house".

A interesting dilemma indeed. Those responsible for the "project", whatever it may turn out to be, will have to be very, very careful and display a healthy measure of intellectual honesty.

Personally, I would not turn the house into a residential property. but into a place of learning. History needs to be exposed, made public, not hidden or buried.
