So, the shares outstanding (public traded) gained a value of $11.347 <BILLION>. If you want to count the shares held privately by Amazon (not traded or float), the market valuation (paper money gain) of AMZN have already paid for Whole Food Market (WFM) purchase. |

It's not that index funds are a bad idea...in the abstract they're a very good idea, and in the real world they've been great since the moment they were introduced. But the problem, as I understand it, is that there is so much money in index funds that they are beginning to distort the market, and when the crash comes a lot of people are going to panic. |
