WannaBe: No inquery, so... Fun info, horses born in N. Hemisphere are all registered Jan 1 as birthday, S. Hemisphere all Aug 1. This makes age restricted races (e.g. Triple Crown races are limited to 3-years old <ONLY>) easier to manage. Now on to them LAD and Red Birds.

Jan-12-06  RonB52734: What about 6.Qc2? I was looking at this position on the board and figured the threat was 7.Nd5 and then 8.Nc7. For an answer I was looking at 6...e6, which might prompt 7.Nb5. If 7.Nb5, then 7...Nc6. If I were white, I'd play either 6.Qc2 or do something with the King's Bishop to make way for castling.

WannaBe: <RonB52734> I do not believe I have ever seen Qc2 played this early, it's usually e2 or d2 that I've seen. So I do not have much to contribute until I get my board out later and examine it. =)
Jan-12-06  RonB52734: Yeah, that open c-file just caught my eye.
Jan-12-06  RonB52734: <WannaBe> Just for clarity, in your second line, which was:

6. e5!? Nd7 7. exd6 exd6 (Maybe, Maybe)

you are proposing 6...Nfd7, not Nbd7

WannaBe: <RonB52734: you are proposing 6...Nfd7, not Nbd7> Yes, you are correct. I should have made that clear. Don't want to drop that knight there. =)
Jan-12-06  RonB52734: Altho I'd like to see the Knightmares stick that up their collective nostril! lol
Jan-13-06  Robin01: I see we did go ahead and make another move. So now it is there move.
Jan-13-06  Robin01: "their" move.
Jan-13-06  Robin01: I think they will probably play 6.Bc4 or 6.Bb5+. If 6.Bc4 is played, then I like the reply of 6...Nc6. If 6.Bb5+ is played, I like 6...Nbd7, because if we play 6...Bd7, then they have 7.Qb3 and I do not like our position after that.
Jan-13-06  Robin01: I do not think they will play 6.e5, but who knows. If they play 6.Bg5 then I again like 6...Nc6. I do not think we have to fear them taking off our knight with their bishop, because we just take back with the g pawn and we are doing well.
Jan-13-06  Robin01: I was also looking at perhaps them playing 6.Qb3 maybe. I think we can just develop then again with 6...Nc6.
Jan-13-06  Robin01: That's all I can think of right now. I need to sleep.
Jan-13-06  RonB52734: They have played 6.Bc4

I, too, think 6...Nc6. However, we have to be mindful of tactics against the f7 pawn.

Jan-13-06  Robin01: I like 6...Nc6 here. We can follow that up with 7...e6 next, unless they make some weird move.
Jan-13-06  RonB52734: Two votes for 6...Nc6 and holding.....
Jan-13-06  Robin01: We have to make at least one move today, so if nobody else shows up today, I guess you have to make the move anyhow is the way I see it.

  WannaBe: If 6...Nc6 followed by 7. Ng5 we'll play 7...e6?
Jan-13-06  Robin01: I think 7.Ng5 for them is a waste of a tempo, so I do not believe they will do that, but who knows for sure until it happens. But, yes, if they would play 7.Ng5, I guess 7...e6 is good also.
Jan-13-06  Robin01: If they play 7.Ng5, then we can later chase the knight with h6.

WannaBe: I too, vote for Nc6.
Jan-13-06  Robin01: If for some reason they play maybe 7.e5, then I was looking at 7...Nd7; 8.exd6, Nb6 possibly followed by a recapture for us, after they move the bishop, of exd6. Just another possible line of many.
Jan-13-06  NakoSonorense: I vote for Nc6

Ill be back in a few hours

Jan-13-06  RonB52734: Ok so we're only waiting for sitzkrieg? Anyone think we should move? or wait?

  WannaBe: we have 4 votes for Nc6. That's a majority. =)
Jan-13-06  RonB52734: Thinking ahead now (I'm going to display White to play after 6...Nc6

After 6...Nc6, we might see

7. 0-0 (probably the most sensible) and we could respond with ...e6 or possibly ...g6. I think that, given the time to do so, we need to prepare the short castle. I'm a little leery of ...g6 and fianchetto because of the lurking dark-squared weakness around the king.

7. Ng5 or 7.Qb3 (again, these are my jaundiced looks at the f7 pawn) and I think we'd have to respond ...e6

7. Bg5 and I'd be tempted again to respond ...e6 rather than an immediate ...h6. ...e6 allows our Queen to defend the f6 Knight, preserving our pawn structure. And ...e6 discourages a hasty 8.Nd5.

These appear most likely to me.

(Of course, the grossly rash 7.Bxf7+?? Kxf7 8.Ng5+? Ke8 [Not 8...Kg8 9.Qb3+] is possible and the only thing to remember is not Kg8 to "castle by hand")
