WannaBe: No inquery, so... Fun info, horses born in N. Hemisphere are all registered Jan 1 as birthday, S. Hemisphere all Aug 1. This makes age restricted races (e.g. Triple Crown races are limited to 3-years old <ONLY>) easier to manage. Now on to them LAD and Red Birds.

Jan-12-06  NakoSonorense: you, yeah.. i visited hitman84's page yesterday just to know a little more about our opponents. He's rated over 2000!

Ron, of course that would benefit us... but we could also make our move today if we have a good response, no?

WannaBe: <RonB52734> I agree with about no more moves today. If they want to make one, we'll think about the possibilities.

<hitman84> is quite good. This wing(?) gambit may be his idea.

Jan-12-06  NakoSonorense: nice plan, sitzkrieg! the "nitynitemares" are going to believe it and will get overconfident about they superiority. They won't see it coming... [evil laughs]
Jan-12-06  you vs yourself: What's Ron's rating?

<sitzkrieg> Well, yahoo ratings are pretty misleading. You trounced me in our game, eventhough I was rated around 1500.

Jan-12-06  NakoSonorense: you, I think our captain's rating is 1174 USCF [check his profile]
Jan-12-06  RonB52734: Yep. 1174 and generally playing right now at about a 1300 level.
Jan-12-06  Robin01: I do not think we should make any more moves today. Let's not get in a hurry.
Jan-12-06  RonB52734: <Robin01> I agree completely.

WannaBe: I am almost certain white will play Nxc3. This is a line in ECO B21, now, the reason white played this (I think) white now 2 knights and a pawn out in play, while we gave up a tempo.

I am thinking if white plays Nxc3, black plays Nf6.

Jan-12-06  RonB52734: As captain of this merry band, I felt that a new avatar was appropriate. Runners-up were: Winston Churchill, Charlie Brown, Alfred E. Newman, and Moe.

And I agree. If Nxc3, ...Nf6. Develop normally.

WannaBe: <RonB52734> Great! I love it.

Scotty: I can't give you anymore Capt'n. She's giving you all she's got!

Jan-12-06  NakoSonorense: I was thinking that if 5.Nxc3 we move 5...Nc6

wannabe, we're not supposed to use the opening explorer... Just don't tell anybody... i wont. :)

Jan-12-06  NakoSonorense: The knightmares have made their move, it was 5.Nxc3

WannaBe: <NakoSonorense> Actually I play this line as white more than once. I've known the ECO code for this one for a while now.

And no, I have not found the need to use the opening explorer.

Jan-12-06  RonB52734: <Nako> My only thought about Nc6 is this: are there not circumstances where we would want that N to go to d7 instead? Thus, Nf6 is less committing.

I'm off now for several hours. Mr. Scott, you have the helm :)

Jan-12-06  NakoSonorense: The knightmares are really confused... I like that. They're giving all their moves two exclamation marks!! Just look: <5.Nxc3!!>

wannabe, I see, sorry for that. :)

WannaBe: If not Nf6, do we want to play a6? This is almost like playing a normal Najdorf, but we are down in development.
Jan-12-06  RonB52734: doesn't ...a6 leave us way behind in development?

WannaBe: <RonB52734> Yes, Yes, you're quite right, forget I said that. =)
Jan-12-06  sitzkrieg: I think we should develop a piece for sure. So Nf6 or c6. Ron's comment about the knight later to d7 makes sense. After Nf6 e5 is possible, but that doesnt seem too dangerous. Both moves seem to be ok. I go for Nf6, then we have a majority of votes:)

Ron;
<Winston Churchill, Charlie Brown, Alfred E. Newman, and Moe.> Never heard of m. Did u consider Hannibal of the A team?

Jan-12-06  NakoSonorense: On a second thought, I also vote for 5...Nf6. The reason for this is that we have to start considering castling as well as developing our soldiers. I agree with Ron that 5...a6 is too passive, we have to start attacking them!
Jan-12-06  sitzkrieg: Ok Nf6 it is!
Jan-12-06  RonB52734: (online for a few minutes) I approve. Good night all.
Jan-12-06  sitzkrieg: Good nite!

What I anticipate white to possibly do. Random thoughts and idle typing... Blah Blah, you know. Pseudo-blog if you will. =)

6. e5!? dxe5 7. Qxd8 Kxd8 (King in the middle, can't castle.)

6. e5!? Nd7 7. exd6 exd6 (Maybe, Maybe)

6. Bg5 e6 (More traditional, along the lines of Naj. or Schevn.)

6. Bg5 Nbd7 (a tad unusual response to Bg5, most common is e6, see above.)

6. Be3 or Be2 or Bd3 (A little timid/defensive. I do not anticipate The Knightmares to play this.)

6. Bb5+ Bd7 7. Bxd7 Nxd7 (unlikely to be played, it trades off bishops, black gets to develope a piece.)

6. Bb5+ Bd7 7. 0-0 (has possibilities.)

Those are what I see as possible moves for team The Knightmares.
