WannaBe: Okay, what exactly did I miss? I'm trying to piece together what happened from this page and <me to play>'s page...

I have so far gathered, that <Cogano> isn't pleased that there was a call to the referee for the draw decision/call??

That is all I have gathered so far, and I must admit, St. Pats day is a horrible day to try to exercise one's brain...

WannaBe: The game has been officially declared a draw by <me to play>. I want to thank everyone of you for being on the team!

I had the great pleasure of knowing (better) you wonderful members of chessgames.com. =)

Unfortunately, now that <RonB52734> and I are playing in the Corrsp. Tournament, he is now my sworn enemy. I'll have to try to beat him. =(

Or offer him a grandmaster draw. :-))

(Yes, Vegas offer is still open. I've already paid for the tourn and room. Come if you can!)

Mar-18-06  NakoSonorense: Congrats for managing to get the draw, dark horses! Way to go! It wdve been nice to win, but hey, it was a great game!

Hope to see y'all around!

Mar-18-06  Cogano: Hello again <WannaBe> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. As for my having been upset by the request for a draw, I didn't feel that there was a clear call for a vote as to whether or not there should be a draw & what your & the other members' votes were. That's all. But it's done & over with. In the sense that our aim was to achieve a draw, or if possible a win, then we realized our goal, we succeeded. So way to go <Dark Horses>. We not only beat them, we beat some mighty players to boot! That's an achievement to be proud of. We did it! Hooray! :) & as I said before, it's been a pleasure, privilege & an honour to play with you, & the others, & vs. the <Knightmares>. Thanks much for the experience. & don't be too pessimistic about your expected scores in correspondence games. Your attitude as much as, if not more than, everything else will dictate how much you are able to concentrate & how well & creatively you play. Best of luck on the games. Take very good care & have a great day & a great weekend too. Cheers mate! :)
Mar-18-06  RonB52734: I would like to thank all of you for everything (except for making me captain). :) Stay tuned for a temporary change of avatar...
Mar-18-06  Robin01: Hello all. Good outcome to the game. Glad to have played on the same team as all of you. Maybe we can play another one later, or maybe I can just play an individual one later.

tpstar: <Dark Horses> Congratulations on your consultation game and a well-earned draw. The Smith-Morra Gambit (1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cd 4. c3!? dc 5. Nxc3) should give Black a free Pawn for minimal pressure. The one trap to avoid is developing both Knights before playing ... e6 = 5 ... Nc6 6. Bc4 Opening Explorer and now 6 ... Nf6?! 7. e5 brings the traps to life Opening Explorer . That's great how you weren't using the Opening Explorer but that really is helpful for correspondence games, so you don't retread over known theoretical mistakes. Good luck next time. =)
Mar-19-06  sitzkrieg: Thanks for the info> But you see we had the N of Nd7 up our sleeve.
Mar-19-06  AdrianP: Thanks for the game, guys.
Mar-19-06  who: <wannabe> I see that you've decided to use the Smith Morra gambit yourself against Hitman. Bravo and GL.

WannaBe: <who> Thank you, I'll need plenty of luck vs. someone like (strong) him.

Now, I doubt my own sanity of giving him a pawn when he is that strong of a player. =)

Mar-19-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <Dark Horses> Good game guys! Don't forget to drop by on my forum some time. :)

And also please give me those notes and your real names soon so that I can add them to the PGN!

Mar-20-06  brankat: <<EmperorAtahualpa><Dark Horses> <..Don't forget to..>> Dark Horses? You mean: Dark Draws :)
Mar-20-06  Cogano: Hello again <AlexanderMorphy> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. First, I'm sorry for the late reply but I couldn't remember where it was that you'd posted your invitation for a game. Second, I can't be presumptuous enough to just say "Yeah let's go ahead & play it here." nor will I ask <WannaBe> to do that. When & if he decides that he has no problem with others using his forum to play games & he announces that clearly such that it's known to all, then by all means we can use his forum. Otherwise, I don't know how/where else we are supposed to play. If you wish to play elsewhere, then I will need assistance, as I'm not particularly Internet/technologically adept & my experiences/attempts at playing online have thus far failed. I look forward to your reply. Take very good care & have a great day. Cheers mate!
Mar-20-06  Robin01: <If you are up for a game, either here on forum or else where on-line, let me know!! Don't be a stranger. =)> When you get time, I'll play you one over on Queen Alice site after I register. I see you have a lot of games going right now. Thanks for the offer.
Mar-20-06  Robin01: <WannaBe> I have not looked at your PGN. However, I ususally follow my own lines. I'll try to register in the next couple of days.
Mar-20-06  Robin01: <WannaBe> I guess we can flip a coin for color: heads I get white, tails you get black. You can even flip and call it. :')
Mar-21-06  sitzkrieg: New developments on the <metoplay> page. We are now also being accused of cheating..
Mar-21-06  RolandTesh: <sitzkrieg>

<New developments on the <metoplay> page. We are now also being accused of cheating..>

You are one of those types that builds self-esteem by cherry-picking and exaggerating? Aren't you also the guy who thinks the Bush Administration is being honest?

I never directly accused you, or your team of cheating -- just that it is common sense that out of a group of 10 - 13 people, there are going to be occasions when a one or two of those players are going to succumb to the temptation of once or twice sneaking a peak. I doubt <hitman84> is the only one -- but that is not accusing any one person or team -- yet you try to make it appear that way.

Kind sir, you have a fragile ego. And your excessive defensive does begin to give some cause for suspicion. Though I sincerely doubt it. :-)

Mar-21-06  sitzkrieg: You insinuated that we cheated.
Mar-21-06  sitzkrieg: <Out of the 10+ players involved in your consultation game, are any of you so naive as to seriously believe that engines were not being used on occasion on both sides?>

<The real dishonesty going on now is the other player(s) who do not have the courage to admit their own transgressions because they expect they can get away with it -- even though it means hanging <hitman84> out to dry.>

First quote is a direct accusation.I dont mind, but dont accuse me of misinterpreting your posts, I understand them very well.

Mar-21-06  RolandTesh: <sitzkrieg>

<First quote is a direct accusation.I dont mind, but dont accuse me of misinterpreting your posts, I understand them very well.>

Cherry-picking again, as well as misinterpreting. By saying <... not being used on occasion on both sides?> I'm just being objective in that there were 13 players involved on both sides, and that it is likely there are going to be a few players who succumb to temptation on occasion. In other words, I wasn't targeting either team, just the totality of players and the odds.

You once again took my objectivety as a personal attack -- which it was never intended to be.

Mar-21-06  RolandTesh: Perhaps I should have said "either" side instead of "both" sides -- but why the excessive defensiveness?
Mar-21-06  sitzkrieg: Don't you have an own forum to go to?:)
Mar-21-06  RolandTesh: If I did it would be a place where naivety is discouraged, in a non-defensive manner :-)
